We believe that applying science is the only way to solve the climate crisis. Scientific expertise is critical to both effective and efficient carbon management – yet it can be hard to access outside of the academic and public sectors. New research and technologies emerge every day in our nascent industry and it can be difficult to know what actions to take to achieve your climate goals. Carbon Direct is working to address these challenges by: building a world-class science team of carbon experts, analyzing existing and proposed policy regulations, applying science with real-world market experience, and translating our expertise into accessible software solutions.

Glydways, Inc. is an American transportation technology and clean energy company based in South San Francisco, CA. The company specializes in the design, manufacture, installation and operation of affordable autonomous transportation for low, medium and extremely high capacity needs. Founded in 2016 by engineer and entrepreneur Mark Seeger, the company was started with the goal of providing affordable mobility for communities across the world. This goal is founded in the belief that access to affordable housing, employment, education and care lead to economic and social prosperity, and the key to this equity is mobility for as many people as possible. Lead by Gokul Hemmady who serves as CEO, the company’s core objectives are to provide a 24/7 mobility service solution that is environmentally net-negative in terms of greenhouse gas production (GHG), and, inherently profitable. GHG-negative is achieved through the invention and use of power-efficient technologies to reduce the watt-hours-per-person-per-unit-distance traveled, and, photovoltaics embedded into the infrastructure. Economic sustainability is achieved by designing for operational costs that are inherently lower than revenue collected when selling a ride. The key comes from decoupling the unit-costs from the utilization of the system, something that is not possible with existing public/mass transportation systems. By being financially sustainable, Glydways relieves municipalities of the vast annual subsidies required to operate existing solutions, which are inherently unprofitable and thereby a fiscal burden to public budgets. Further, the Glydways business model allows for private capitalization of entire systems. Glydways provides the highest capacity, at the lowest cost, with the best user experience, and the lowest greenhouse gas footprint of any mobility solution, providing a personal, on-demand, and point-to-point journey with no stops between origin and destination

Buildings globally use 14% of all potable water, but very few buildings reuse that water. Epic Cleantec is on a mission to change that. Epic Cleantec (“Epic”) is a full-service water technology company that deploys onsite water treatment and reuse systems into individual buildings or groups of buildings, converting building wastewater (greywater, blackwater, stormwater, rainwater) into highly purified treated water for non-potable applications like toilet flushing, irrigation, cooling towers, and laundry. Occupying a small footprint within a project, the Epic approach can reuse up to 95% of a building’s wastewater, lowering water and wastewater costs by up to six figures annually. Unique to Epic is that our systems can also incorporate full resource recovery by converting wastewater organics into carbon-rich soil products for landscaping and gardening, and recovering wastewater heat energy to preheat the potable water supply, reducing a project’s hot water energy needs by up to 30%. Our innovative approach can help earn up to 24 LEED points. Born out of initial work with The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Epic provides a one-stop-shop for design, engineering, permitting, construction support, and ongoing operations. Our team has decades of experience across the wastewater and built environment value chain, with expertise in wastewater treatment and solids handling technology, project financing, policy, and operations. Epic has been featured widely in prominent publications including CNBC, CNN, The Guardian, The New York Times, CBS, Bloomberg, NBC Bay Area, ABC7, TechCrunch, and more. Epic has received many accolades, including in the no.1 spot on Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies list in the small company category. In 2022, Epic’s OneWater™ system was named a TIME Best Invention of the Year
