Global workplace projects is the organization accountable for all the Capacity expansions, key sustainability projects and other complex projects within The LEGO Group.
Engineering & Digitalization is part of Global Workplace Projects, it is a global department responsible for the technical building disciplines such as supply concepts, MEP disciplines, building management systems, fire safety, etc. All the Engineering and technical support to the project teams at the construction sites if provided by this department.
Engineering and Digitalization is also responsible to drive the complex sustainability projects, to look at innovation in construction from materials to methods, as well as the digitalization of the buildings.
Engineering & Digitalization applies the specialist knowledge in the design and construction of new factory buildings and other larger retrofit projects. They are an integrated part of the program-teams where they lead the technical streams which are managed by a global team of specialists located across ASIA, EMEA and AMS. They have a strong focus on delivering reliable and sustainable solution supporting the ambition to realize zero impact operation.
The complexity in the programs can be described as:
- Team are culturally mixed; very different competences, backgrounds, cultures, mindset and skills
- Team structure has team members with several sub-projects and project organization goes across several organization units
- Team is in several geographies and team is impacted by more than one time zone
- The main stakeholders for the Head of Engineering and Digitalization are typically
- Head of Global Workplace at the different constructions sites.
- GWP LT members
- Head of MD&I, WS&O and SOPS under E&W area.
- Strong interaction with WS&O and SOPS teams.
- Interaction with external suppliers and consultants.
- Expect to travel 30 days per year.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead the Engineering & Digitalization leader team and a team of a specialists in a global setup
- Lead the sustainability agenda within construction including green building certifications
- Accountable for global engineering standards for engineering disciplines within construction
- Leading the PV panel roadmap and associated projects globally
- Ensuring continuously R&D inside new technologies for MEP and sustainability, eg. HVAC, Control systems, energy storage, etc
- Ensure contionous re-assessment of existing engineering systems in factories to optimize energy and water consumption and reduce operational costs.
- Ensure new facilities are digitalized inside engineering scope and harvest values
- Ensure value engineering inside engineering scope across GWP projects
- Member of the factory wheel with mandate to define global engineering standards for LEGO® Standard Factory
- Building engineering capability to support expansion portfolio globally
- Strong role model of Leadership playground behaviors.
- Key member of GWP LT team, with a balanced responsibility of influencing and adding to the strategic priorities of the area, the team performance and the development of GWP as a functional and key area for Operations.
Do you have what it takes?
- Equivalent to scientific Master/Bachelor degree – in Engineering is preferred
- Proven related working experience within leadership and management, leading engineering and project organization.
- Demonstrated results in similar position in a global company
- Previous experience from Facility Engineering or Construction
- Strong leadership & management profile with demonstrated ability from leading multinational and long-distance teams.
- Strong profile in strategic and operational development of organizations to meet business requirements with innovation approach, challenging status quo and continuously looking for and delivering upon opportunities to improve results.
- Ability to navigate in a matrixed organization, get motivated by complex challenges and facilitate strong mitigation plans and solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, proven to manage stakeholders at all levels and across different geographies.
- Willing to travel up to 30 days per year.
- High drive and curiosity to improve the way we do business. You need to have the courage to challenge.
