We’re seeking a visionary Senior Director to lead the sustainable transformation within Operation and deliver impactful solutions that drives us towards carbon neutral operations by 2032!
Core Responsibilities:

Strategic Development: Collaborate with the Group Sustainability function to build and implement a comprehensive sustainability vision and roadmap for LEGO Group Operations, focusing on energy, carbon, waste, and water management (scope 1 and 2).

Sustainability Advocacy: Act as a prominent ambassador for sustainability, effectively communicating strategies and initiatives to stakeholders at all levels, from executives to shop floor employees.

Leadership and Mentorship: Inspire and lead the global Sustainable Operations team (~20 employees) and collaborate with Engineering and Operations colleagues worldwide to achieve ambitious targets. Facilitate the creation of clear action plans and support teams in their execution.

Engineering Solutions: Lead Engineering teams across The LEGO Group in the development of game changing solutions that step change reduction in environmental impact across our manufacturing operations.

Cultural Promotion: Cultivate a culture of sustainability within the organization by providing training, resources, and advocacy for sustainable practices throughout the supply chain.

Innovative Transformation: Lead the transformation of capabilities and processes to deliver innovative solutions and technologies that enhance sustainability performance across manufacturing sites.

Partnership Building: Develop partnerships with suppliers, technology providers, and industry leaders to drive positive sustainability impacts at The LEGO Group.

Trend Leadership: Stay ahead of trends in sustainability and ESG practices, identifying new opportunities for sustainable growth and innovation.

Budget Management: Oversee related budgets, including cost analysis and forecasting, ensuring initiatives are financially viable and aligned with our sustainability goals.

Integration and Compliance: Embed sustainability into the operations of leadership, engineering, and manufacturing functions. Ensure excellence and compliance in reporting, target setting, and managing the sustainability PMO function.

The Sustainable Operations department is a key component of the Engineering & Workplace function within Operations. This team leads the development and execution of the Operations sustainability strategy, ensuring alignment with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. They coordinate cross-functional teams to design, implement, and monitor engineering solutions and initiatives that minimize environmental impact, promote social responsibility, and drive long-term sustainability goals.

We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong grasp of sustainability principles in a manufacturing context, outstanding leadership skills, and the ability to drive transformative change across the organization. Key qualifications include:

Engineering a Sustainable Future in Manufacturing: Deep experience across manufacturing and engineering, combined with a track record of generating scalable, fit for purpose, cost effective and sustainable solutions, deployed across a global manufacturing footprint.

Proven Expertise: Demonstrated success in developing and implementing sustainability strategies internationally in manufacturing, with significant and measurable impacts.

Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage stakeholders at all levels. Ability to inspire and motivate others to embrace and implement sustainable practices.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and strategic problem-solving abilities to tackle complex environmental challenges and create innovative, actionable solutions.

Knowledge of Frameworks and Standards: Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks and standards, as well as sustainability certifications and accreditations.

Regulatory Understanding: Understanding of relevant regulations and compliance requirements, along with knowledge of industry-specific sustainability challenges.

Project Management: Strong project management skills to plan, execute, and monitor large-scale sustainability initiatives effectively.

Business Acumen: Ability to balance sustainability objectives with organizational goals and financial considerations, demonstrating strong business acumen.

Future Talent: With career stretch and agility to fill critical talent pipelines in senior Engineering, Operations and Central Sustainability roles.
