Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. The Senior Buyer will play a critical role in sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials, equipment, and services for ONE’s energy storage programs. The ideal candidate will ensure cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery of goods, while building strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. This role requires strategic thinking, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiating contracts and terms to secure the best value.
  • Manage procurement activities for direct and indirect materials, equipment, and services.
  • Ensure all purchasing aligns with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Monitor supplier performance, addressing issues such as delivery delays, quality concerns, or pricing discrepancies.
  • Conduct regular supplier evaluations and audits to ensure compliance with company requirements.
  • Analyze market trends and pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop strategies to manage material costs while ensuring quality and operational efficiency.
  • Track and report on cost variances and budget performance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand demand forecasts and production schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels to avoid shortages or overstocking, adjusting purchase orders accordingly.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure smooth receipt and storage of materials.
  • Negotiate, review, and manage contracts with suppliers, ensuring adherence to agreed terms and conditions.
  • Resolve disputes and contract-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Continuously assess and improve procurement processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Leverage technology and tools to optimize procurement workflows, such as ERP systems or procurement software.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, legal regulations, and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information.
  • Prepare reports and analyses on procurement activities, cost savings, and supplier performance.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 5-7+ years Purchasing and Supply Chain, or related experience.  Experience purchasing battery cell materials or energy storage components preferred.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification.
  • Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma principles to optimize supply chain processes.
  • Knowledge of international procurement and trade regulations.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time 40 hours, generally Monday through Friday 8am-5pm EST.
  • Flexible work schedule and environment dependent on business needs.
  • May require occasional travel to supplier sites or industry events.
