This is achieved by safeguarding the desired internal and external quality levels of products and processes and services (meaning full regulatory compliance with Food Safety and Food Defence standards for manufactured products and feed ingredients) and retaining all relevant certificates required in order to meet global and local standards and schemes.

Quality management is focused not only on product/service quality, but also on the means to achieve it. Quality management therefore uses quality assurance and quality control of processes as well as products to achieve a more consistent quality.
The Quality Assurance Manager direct an entity’s inspection and testing programs, as well as its proactive quality assurance procedures designed to prevent defects and / or improve performance. In pursuing these objectives, he / she manages the department's employees and interacts with other managers and staff in departments that run processes where quality is an important dimension (e.g. production, research, supply chain, etc.).
The Quality Assurance Manager consults with the entity’s other departments, such as supply chain, production, sales, and may communicate with customer's or supplier representatives.
The scope of the Quality Assurance Manager is mostly an OpCo with one or more production site / production lines, but not exclusively. More senior QA/QC management roles may cover a wider area. Quality Assurance management roles also exist in Supply Chain, Sales and in Innovation (R&D)

As Quality Manager Deventer you contribute to our purpose of Feeding the Future through up-to-date quality management system that supports continuous improvement of the quality of the processes and products conform the needs of all our customers, authorities, and certification bodies.

Products produced in Deventer are mainly calf milk replacers via spray drying (Sloten) of dairy ingredients and mixing of feed materials and feed additives (Deventer). These products are exported globally (intercompany).

Reporting to the Quality Manager Global Supply Points, the Quality Manager Deventer is responsible for the development, continuous improvement and implementation of the policy, standards, and processes that together ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements, industry standards, and customer expectations for the safety, quality, and integrity of animal feed and food products (license to operate) for Deventer. Contributes to continuous improvement of quality performance through working closely together with peers in GSP and Nutreco Quality community and with other functions including operations and procurement.

The Quality Manager is member of the quality management team of GSP and the Nutreco quality community for knowledge sharing and driving the quality mindset.

About The Role

•             Responsibilities

Quality Management

  • Ensure up to date quality management system (procedures and instructions) in line with the Nutreco Quality Management System (Nutrace), GSP specific requirements, relevant legislations, (certification) norms and/or customer demands.

  • Conduct yearly management review to identify improvements and opportunities that drive quality excellence

  • Monitor status of quality plan, provide updates in the management teams, recommend actions when lagging and ensure follow up.

  • Develop training materials and provide training to employees on feed safety and quality, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and other relevant feed safety & quality programs.

  • (Key) User of IT systems that manage the quality processes and supporting Nutreco in user acceptance testing and participation in subject matter expert teams.

  • Leader of HACCP team and ensures that the system is kept up to date.

Quality Performance

  • Perform ingredient and supplier assessments and keep corresponding documentation up to date.

  • Perform self-assessments to identify gaps with Nutrace, certification schemes and customer requirements, and ensure closure of gaps.

  • Execute internal and/or external (supplier) audits and initiate and monitor progress of corrective actions in case of deviations.

  • Perform hygiene rounds and provide guidance and instructions to production on hygiene, quality controls and 5S.

  • Deliver quality performance reports, analyze the results with advice in follow up, and ensure execution.

  • Ensure preparedness for customer and Nutreco audits on site and follow up of non-conformities and recommendations.

  • Provide support and instructions in case of quality/feed safety incidents and crisis, ensure communication with authorities and certification bodies as appropriate

  • Responsible for effective customer complaint process on site and follow up of customer complaints and quality issues. Working closely with other departments to identify root causes and ensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

  • Participate in and lead improvement projects and networks.

Feed regulation

  • Coordinate and follow up of inspections from authorities.

  • Maintain permits from the local feed safety authorities and certificates from quality certification schemes.

  • Support product registration officers in maintenance of dossiers.

Quality Control and analytical services

  • Develop monitoring plans for incoming and manufactured goods and ensure its execution. S

  • Instruct operations in in-process controls, in accordance with the organization guidelines and relevant standards and schemes.

  • Analyze QC and Quality data to identify trends and risks and develop and implement corrective and preventive actions as necessary.

Skills and Perspective:

  • Qualifications:

  • Preferred bachelor’s or master’s degree in food science, biology, chemistry, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of food and feed safety regulations.

  • Knowledge of quality management systems and certification schemes including HACCP and GFSI standards.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

  • Attention to detail and ability to analyse data.

  • English, fluent proficiency in verbal and written.

  • Ms. Office suit, professional level
