West Monroe is seeking an Engineering Team Leader to join and lead our internal product development team.
The Product Engineering Team Lead is responsible for defining and implementing the technical vision, strategy, and execution of the engineering team to deliver high-quality products (aka “assets”). This role ensures alignment of technical direction with business goals, fosters collaboration across teams, and drives excellence in scalability, security, and performance. The Product Engineering Team Lead will oversee the development and architecture of solutions, manage budgets, and provide leadership to build and maintain a high-performing engineering team. They will be a player-coach given the innovative nature of the team and portfolio of assets.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Vision and Strategy:
- Define and implement the technical vision and strategy in collaboration with the Technical Architect.
- Ensure alignment of technical direction with business goals and objectives.
- Engineering Leadership and Architecture:
- Lead the engineering team to deliver high-performing solutions through extensive experience in software development and architecture.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, fostering growth and innovation.
- Support assets across multiple tech stacks, with the ability to develop alongside the team as needed in a player-coach capacity
- Scalability, Security, and Performance:
- Be accountable for the scalability, security, and performance of the asset portfolio, including code coverage and quality assurance practices.
- Establish and enforce best practices for engineering standards and processes.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Technical Architects, and Key Stakeholders to assess and estimate user stories, determining the level of effort and resources required for builds.
- Act as a liaison between engineering and business stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and alignment.
- Provide lessons learned to the consulting teams to leverage for client facing pursuits and/or engagements
- Budget and Cost Optimization:
- Manage the planned budget for technology and consumption, highlighting anomalies or trends impacting cost.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization while maintaining quality and performance standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience required.
- 7-10+ years of experience in software engineering, development, or architecture, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Experience within a professional services company is preferred.
- Experience with AI is beneficial but not required.
- Proven ability to lead and build high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong expertise in modern software development practices and technologies, including Agile methodologies.
- Experience with specific technologies relevant to our tech stacks and development processes including but not limited to React, Node, Typescript, PostgreSQL, Databricks, Azure, AWS, Jira, Github, OpenAI.
- Experience with different AI tools to accelerate software engineering processes like feature development, code reviews, and the creation of proof of concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to drive technical strategy and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions.
- Strong understanding of data (engineering and analytics) and ability to analyze business data
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience managing budgets and optimizing costs in technology-driven projects.
- Ability to travel as needed for team specific meetings / workshops or conferences.
