Our mission is to empower kids to discover their best futures by providing expert mentorship, strong community, and a joyful learning experience. Juni was founded in 2017 by Stanford alums Vivian Shen and Ruby Lee. Their goal in starting Juni was to provide the education opportunity they wished they had when they were students. As students, they felt learning was an uphill battle - and desired three things in their education: 1. Caring mentors 2. Strong support from friends 3. Understanding teachers Juni works for students and parents because it’s modeled after those three pillars. Juni Instructors provide critical mentorship, the Juni Community provides friends and collaboration, and the dynamic curriculum empowers students to be curious. “We believe that joyful learning will empower kids everywhere to discover, and then achieve whatever future they can dream of” - Vivian and Ruby Juni is backed by Forerunner Ventures, Index Ventures, Y Combinator Co-founder Jessica Livingston, Arielle Zuckerberg, and more. Much like a blank piece of paper Proko started off as a blank slate. An empty canvas that could go a million different directions based on the creativity of the artist looking at it. In this case, the artist was Stan Prokopenko and in 2012 he launched the first drawing lesson for Proko. That video would later go on to rack up millions of views and help countless artists around the world with learning to draw the head from any angle. But, just like any piece of art, it takes multiple marks on a page to build a masterpiece and Proko is no different. Over the years Proko has continued to work at building up a library of fundamental lessons. These are free lessons that everyone in the art community can watch and learn important skills from. At the same time, we’ve launched premium course content to further enhance the skills of artists and to help fund additional content for the platform. Fast forward to 2021 and Proko has now gone from an art blog with some lessons on it to a full fledged marketplace and social media hub to help artists further their education. These new community tools are important to us because they will enable artists to learn from our videos and from each other on the site. At our core we believe that art education should not be limited to your geographic location, the amount of money you have, or the materials you have at your disposal. Creators do what they love, they create and we want to be there alongside your journey as you build up the skills to become the artist that you’ve always imagined yourself becoming. But enough about us. It’s time to make your first mark on your own blank canvas. Let’s see what you can create!
