Position Overview:
The Technical Production Supervisor is responsible for managing and overseeing daily production activities to ensure that manufacturing processes run efficiently, meet production targets, and maintain high standards of quality and safety. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to supervise production teams, monitor workflows, and ensure that production goals are achieved in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Supervision:
- Supervise, lead, and motivate production teams to achieve daily production goals
- Managing a group of 10-20 people
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to production workers, ensuring efficient use of resources
- Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure employees understand their roles and perform to the highest standards. Promote cross-training among other areas and processes
- Foster a positive work environment with clear communication and strong team cohesion
- Promote a clean and safe work environment, driving 5S
Production Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop and implement production schedules in alignment with customer demand, business goals, and inventory levels
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to meet deadlines and production quotas
- Coordinate with other departments (such as inventory, quality control, and shipping) to ensure a seamless flow of materials and finished goods
- Ensure data in the WMS system is correct and up to date, tracking movement throughout the production process
Quality Control and Compliance:
- Ensure that all production activities meet quality standards and specifications
- Conduct regular inspections of products and production processes to identify and resolve issues
- Enforce adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Work with quality assurance teams to investigate and address production defects or non-conformities
- Work with Compliance and IT teams to ensure work instructions are current
Process Improvement:
- Continuously assess production processes for weakness and failures of data security and issues causing poor customer satisfaction, driving RMA's
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement best practices that increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve product quality
- Lead initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and achieve cost-saving goals
Inventory and Resource Management:
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure that materials are available to meet production demands without excess stock
- Work closely with procurement and inventory management to coordinate the flow of raw materials and supplies
- Ensure the proper use and maintenance of production equipment and machinery
Qualifications/Experience/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Proven track record of managing production teams and achieving production goals
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality control
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in production scheduling software, Microsoft Office Suite, and ERP systems
- Understanding of computers, servers, tablets, appl devices, cell phones, cabling and networking is a plus
- Certifications in production management, safety, or quality control are a plus
