The Systems Controls Engineer is responsible for supporting plant expansion projects as well as special projects for new equipment and production (SOP, CI projects, training initiatives, etc.). There will be a heavy partnership with Process Controls Engineer, providing backup for network infrastructure, controls, and programming for the entire facility.
How You Will Make Contributions That Matter:

Responsible for the overall performance of the plant’s PLC, HMI, Servo, and other controls device equipment. Diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment to ensure proper operation of all electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment.

Assist maintenance personnel with troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic production/packaging equipment.

Assist in providing direction in defining and justifying capital projects relating to new/improved PLC technology. Work closely with Corporate Engineering in developing and implementing plant automation projects; work closely with IT team to ensure new equipment is compatible with current processes

Monitor cost relative to equipment repairs and upgrades regarding control device technology.

Lead and direct technicians as required to keep the plant’s automated systems operational.

Support Maintenance personnel and Maintenance Manager as needed.

Ensure that all PLC repairs and improvements are performed to industry standards. Maintain necessary records/documents of PLC maintenance work performed.

Provide PLC training for development of maintenance skills within the Department. Coach employees to achieve continuous improvement in their performance levels.

Ensure that parts and equipment inventory relating to control device technology are maintained to ensure continuous plant efficiency and reduce down-time. Assist in maintaining asset inventory and record system.

Communicate effectively with maintenance and plant personnel, Operations, Corporate Engineering, Quality, R&D and other internal teams to ensure smooth operation of the process.

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Contractors, Vendors, Consultants and Suppliers.

Develop and implement both short and long-term repairs and projects to minimize downtime and maximize production and packaging.

Assist in providing departmental safety training and enforce safe working practices at all times

Assist in developing the plant’s maintenance budget relating to PLC technology and related projects.

Enforce the Company’s policies and programs with employees, contractors, vendors, consultants and suppliers (i.e. safety, GMPs, etc.).

Provide controls device support on various shifts to multiple plants to ensure overall efficiency. Communicate weekly work schedule and any related changes to Plant Manager to ensure appropriate plant coverage/support.

Ensure regular follow-ups with Plant Manager regarding status of projects, including all changes to targeted deadlines and expectations.

Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge of RSlogix5000, RSlogix 500, Remote Desktop, FactoryTalk View SE, FactoryTalk View ME, and any exposure to JUMO.

You Are Best Suited for The Role If You Have The Following Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
-
A minimum of five years maintenance/engineering / project management experience within Dairy, Food, and/or Beverage industry; supervision experience required.
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field, and/or the equivalent experience.
-
PLC, HMI or DCS certifications is preferred.
-
CMMS Software experience is preferred.
-
Calibration experience is a plus.
-
H.A.R.T. communication experience is a plus.
-
Must have advanced level understanding of automated control systems and integration, electronics, robotics, fiber optic sensors, pneumatic-hydraulic controls, HMI devices, and PLC programming.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret building drawings, piping diagrams, operation manuals, or manual specifications is needed.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. AutoCAD knowledge beneficial.

Must have ability to work in a team environment.
-
Must be able to work with little or no direction and must possess excellent time management and organizational skills.

Understanding of budgetary principles.

Ability to work flexible hours on various shifts, holidays and weekends when needed.

Demonstrates professionalism and positively represents and promotes Saputo at all times.

Ability to work in manufacturing environment which includes but not limited to: noise, changing temperatures (hot, wet, cold, humid), standing/walking/bending/stooping/climbing stairs, maneuvering around manufacturing equipment consistently throughout the shift.

Physical lifting up to 40-lbs unassisted frequently throughout the shift.

Salary Range: $87,510- $120,000
Salary offers will vary commensurate with experience, education, skills, and training.
