Nutreco is looking for a Sustainability Specialist (Supplier Focus) to drive our sustainability journey forward. In this role, you’ll collaborate with leading suppliers in the agri-food industry, spearheading initiatives that align with our ambitious carbon reduction goals and broader environmental and social responsibilities.

About The Role: Make a tangible impact on sustainability
Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary contact for Nutreco suppliers on sustainability topics, including deforestation, overfishing, and broader environmental and social responsibility issues.

Collaborate with internal teams to gather and validate sustainability footprint data from suppliers, create a benchmarking system, and identify options to reduce carbon emissions.

Ensure the procurement and sales teams are following the European Deforestation Regulation, effective January 2025, in coordination with the regulatory team.

Train the procurement team on the EcoVadis platform, ensure supplier registration, and act on EcoVadis results to drive supplier performance.

Support the development and execution of Nutreco’s overall reduction strategy by working closely with Category and Purchasing Managers.

Ensure that Nutreco’s Code of Conduct for Business Partners is adopted by suppliers and address any gaps or risks in compliance.

Work creatively with suppliers to engage them in Nutreco’s sustainability journey, aligning their goals with ours and helping them understand their impact on the supply chain.

Identify environmental and social risks within the supply chain, including those of suppliers' suppliers, and collaborate with the sustainability team to address these risks.
Skills and Expertise

Qualifications:
-
A bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Environmental Science Business Administration with a focus on sustainability or a related field.

A minimum of 2-3 years of experience leading sustainability improvement projects, preferably in the food/feed sector, agriculture, or aquaculture.

Fluency in English and effectively communicating and networking with business and stakeholders.

Soft skills like analytical strength, collaboration, adaptability, good communication ability able to build trust with internal teams and suppliers, an energetic proactive approach to problem solving.
