The Staff Accountant is responsible for bank/credit card reconciliations, journal entries, various schedules, supporting the sales tax process and participating in various accounting projects for Abacus Data Systems and its Canadian subsidiary.
· Reporting to the Director, Accounting, the Staff Accountant is responsible for certain accounting functions of multiple entities.
· Support of year-end audit through preparation of supplemental schedules, rollforwards and reconciliations.
· Perform month-end and year-end close processes, prepare journal entries (prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, etc.), account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, variance analyses.
· Assist with financial and tax audits by preparing documentation and resolving discovered discrepancies.
· Ensure accounting practices and procedures are performed in accordance with GAAP.
· Ensure inter-company accounts balance prior to consolidation.
· Support accounting projects such as implementing new systems or new process improvements.
· Prepare schedules for annual federal and state tax package.
· Coordinate activities required to respond to any finance-related mail items.
· Perform other accounting and financial duties as assigned by the Senior Accountants, Director, Accounting or VP, Accounting.
The ideal candidate MUST have the following:
· 2+ years of related accounting experience required.
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
· Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Auditing Standard (GAAS).
· Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel. Ability to demonstrate strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to identify and propose system and process improvements.
· Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
· Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, and be able to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.
· Experience in dealing with foreign currencies.
· Ability to thrive at a dynamic company that is going through constant change.
· A good Team Player with a positive attitude towards collective team success.
· Excellent time and self-management skills, attention to details, ability to prioritize and multitask to meet deadlines required.
· Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite a plus).

The compensation information below is provided in compliance with job posting disclosure requirements.
Pay range: $65,000 - $75,000 Actual base pay will depend on varying circumstances, including the position, location, individual qualifications, market finances, and other operations business needs.
Depending on the position, compensation may also include commission, bonuses, etc. Potential for bonuses is based on company performance and potential for merit increases is based on performance.
