Onsite - This position requires the employee to be onsite full time. The primary work location will be at the General Motors Global Technical Center in Warren, MI.
The Role
We are seeking a Software Development Engineer for DevOps to join our Advanced Development team within GM's new Autonomous Robotics Center (ARC) organization. In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing the design and processes of our software solutions for autonomous robotics applications. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to create innovative solutions that enhance the performance, reliability, and safety of our autonomous systems.
Joining our ARC organization will provide you with the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies, contribute to innovation, and collaborate with a diverse team of experts. You will play a key role in advancing our automation capabilities and ensuring that our planning and control systems are at the forefront of the industry.
What You'll Do:

  • Design and develop DevOps solutions to support the development and deployment of autonomous systems.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, and control teams to ensure seamless integration of DevOps practices.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance, reliability, and scalability of software infrastructure.
  • Conduct code reviews and testing to ensure the quality and performance of DevOps solutions.
  • Work closely with the Software Solutions Architect to align DevOps practices with the technological roadmap.
  • Participate in feasibility studies and prototyping to explore new technologies and methodologies.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other teams within the ARC organization.


Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps.
  • Proficient in Python, C/C++, ROS, Git, Docker
  • Experience building GitHub actions for automated builds and testing
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining DevOps practices in software development
  • Strong knowledge of unit testing, and agile development
  • Experience driving unit and black box testing
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.


What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in the robotics or automation industry.
  • Knowledge of advanced planning and control methodologies and tools.
  • Experience in prototyping and feasibility studies.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends and technologies in planning and control systems for autonomous applications.
