To help us achieve this, we are seeking a social media producer to assist in day-to-day execution of our strategy across social platforms including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X, LinkedIn and TikTok.
This person will execute against our social strategies under the guidance of the Social Editor and Social Lead Producer. They will work with our reporters, editors and visual teams to drive engagement off platform around our top stories and priorities every day. While they have support from content teams and visual producers, they will be expected to identify the right media and formats for different story types and platforms and work without our brand guidelines on crafting posts.
You may work on a variety of projects to help determine how to extend reach and increase engagement, such as test, measure and iterate to build audience and increase engagement. You will need to have a good understanding of metrics-driven audience measures.
In this position you will:

  • Contribute to and flawlessly deliver on the execution of daily content plans for coverage to help achieve goals of increasing discoverability and engagement
  • Create posts for social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter. Assist our video team with YouTube and TikTok posts as needed.
  • Follow the plan for the daily coverage and make seamless hand-off between shifts
  • Makes suggestions to Lead and Editor for increasing audience or post engagement as well as process improvements
  • Work with leaders to execute strategy for increasing engagement and conversions on our platforms
  • Work with digital producers, editors and writers on innovative packages and new ways of storytelling on social media.


Qualifications:
What we expect you to have to be ready:

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in journalism or related field
  • With a BA, at least 2 years of experience as a digital producer in a fast-paced operational role. With a master's degree may have up to 2 years of experience or without a degree must have at least 6 years of experience
  • Experience in managing news platforms to drive reader engagement and build brand
  • Experience in journalism and strong news judgement
  • Knowledge on the most recent trends in digital news and social media
  • An ability to take constructive criticism
  • Passion and belief in local, regional and statewide journalism and its role as a societal change agent
  • Familiarity and experience in using audience metrics
  • Understanding of journalism standards and media ethics
  • Reliable automobile transportation required.
  • Reliable internet service for remote work environment required.
  • Ability to work weekend and unusual hours as dictated by news events


Preferred Experience in one or more of the following:

  • Newspapers, magazines, media, technology, or related field
  • Video shooting and editing for social media
  • Experience working in a breaking news environment
  • Social, interactive, or digital media


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in journalism, product development, or related field
  • Direct experience in a similar role may be substituted for education


*While this position allows hybrid work, it will be based in metro Atlanta and the producer will be expected to be onsite in our Midtown Atlanta office on a regular basis.
USD 59,600.00 - 89,400.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $59,600.00 - $89,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
Benefits:
The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
