Job Description:

Responsible for ensuring projects are correctly monitor and governed, on a daily basis; maintaining control over the triple constraints set within the commercially agreed proposal and project definition. This includes the regular updating of the project plan, financial trackers, risk and issues logs and project change registers, in order to provide project reporting and meeting updates to key stakeholders. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager the Junior Project Manager/Controller will provide administrative support and leadership where necessary.

Job Functions:

  • Obtain a good understand of the objective and scope of the project, at a suitable management level; to enable high level discussions of the planned activities.
  • Assist in the management of project deliverables, ensuring they align with defined project goals and timelines.
  • When involved in the preparation of project definitions and estimates of changes, collaborate with project teams to define project scope and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure project documentation is up-to-date and organized.
  • Work with the Senior Project Manager and Architects, administer the development of the project plan/schedule as instructed.
  • Monitor, update and report on the progress of the project plan activities, reporting on any activities not yet start, or completed to plan with reasons from the applicable resources.
  • Keep records of resource availability, working with the resource managers when risk of unavailable arise.
  • Monitor the progress of the planned activities, escalating any concerns.
  • Report and remind resources of their upcoming project activities, obtaining acceptance against the planned effort and duration.
  • Work with the resource managers to discuss the impact of unplanned delays or project activity extensions.
  • Maintain Project Management Workbooks/Trackers for each project, capturing, monitoring and progressing risks, issues, actions, dependences, capturing the status of requested changes and logging decisions made.
  • Prepare weekly projects reports to the agreed template and update the appropriate systems and tool accordingly, in a timely manner, as agreed with the customer and Senior Project Manager.
  • Support all internal and external project management meetings, providing reports on project progress and points for discussion, keeping record of actions taken and decisions made.
  • Update the relevant systems to maintain weekly reporting.
  • Maintain an invoice register, responding to disputes and obtaining payment confirmation.
  • Assist with the documentation for obtaining acceptance against the agreed criteria for each stage and deliverable of the project, including closure.  
  • Gain knowledge in project schedule maintenance using Excel and MS Project tools.
  • Gain knowledge general project management through the DXC training course and relevant materials.
  • Develop skills and experience for career progression, with the plan to take on more responsibilities in and ownership of future projects.
  • Monitor project processes and contribute to the identification of process improvements in project management.

Required skills:

  • Strong stakeholder management working with project managers, customers and suppliers.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to produce accurate weekly reports and status updates.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to control budgets, update actuals and track forecasts.
  • Knowledge and experience of SAP or similar ERP, and understanding of it’s importance for business operation, appreciation for the impacts of failure and benefits from successful implementation.
  • Ability to driver people to complete assigned tasks on time.
  • Ability to spot areas of concern and manage and/or escalate appropriately.
  • Ability to adapt to customer culture whilst supporting commercial agreements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience for the descripted job functions.
  • Typically, 4+ years of relevant work experience in industry, with a minimum of 1+ years in a similar role, implementing business systems to multiple customers
  • Proven experience in project management and/or controlling
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, life-cycle phasing and supporting tools
  • A continuous learner that stays abreast with relevant industry knowledge and technology
