Main Purpose:The Regional Environmental Management Lead oversees the region's Environmental performance and develops, implements, and monitors environmental strategies that promote sustainable developmentKnowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the collation of GHG data for the business, ensuring compliance with the Global Environment and Sustainability Reporting requirements.
- Embed Puma Energy’s Environmental Standards across the organisation, ensuring compliance.
- Responsible for maintaining HSSE networks to effectively deliver and share learnings and best practices internally and externally across the APAC Region in a structured, standard, and auditable manner.
- Support Global Environmental and Sustainability initiatives.
- Monitor and assure Environment and Sustainability indicators with analysis and trending of the incident and NCR data.
- Ensure lessons learnt from environmental incidents are cascaded across the organisation and the wider group.
- Develop Environmental and Sustainability project goals, objectives, initiatives, or strategies in collaboration with other Puma Energy Environmental and Sustainability professionals.
- Assist in evaluating workplace environments, equipment, and practices for compliance.
- Design and implement Environmental workplace processes and procedures that help protect workers from potentially hazardous work conditions.
- Review Sphera entries for Environmental incidents, identify trends and support developing and communicating proactive initiatives.
- Develop training and awareness material to support Environmental initiatives.
- Research or review regulatory, technical, or market issues related to Environmental and Sustainability.
- Identify and investigate non-conformances of natural resource management, waste management, recycling, or other Puma Energy Environmental policies.
- Identify or procure needed resources to implement Environmental and Sustainability programs or manage issues.
- Verify that the in-country Operations have identified and documented its environmental aspects (i.e., Environment Impact Register).
- Verify that the in-country Operations have identified and documented relevant legislative requirements to comply with (i.e., Legal Register).
- Verify that the in-country Operations have developed an Environmental Management Plan and Program.
- Assess or propose sustainability initiatives, considering factors such as cost-effectiveness, technical feasibility, and acceptance.
- Escalate overdue or negligent Environmental action management to the Regional Head of HSSE and the applicable Country Operations Management.
- Lead or manage others undertaking ISO 14001 audits across in-country Operations.
- Ensure Country HSSE Mgrs./ Business Partners and Country Operational Managers are made aware of changes or updates to Environmental Regulations, Codes of Practice, or Puma Energy EMS requirements relevant to their jurisdiction and operations
- Provide technical or administrative support for Global Environmental and Sustainability programs or issues.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or similar
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or similar.
Experience, Skills & Competencies:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of practical experience in an environmental systems, governance, or assurance role.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience in leading audits, including auditing of standards ISO 14001.
- Critical thinker with innovative problem-solving skills.
- Highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and related business and communication tools.
- Familiarity with (or willingness to learn about) Environmental legislative frameworks across global jurisdictions.
- Familiarity with (or willingness to learn about) international standards ISO 14001, ISO 9001
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills.
- Strategic and creative mindset.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Proactive, can work independently to produce outcomes.
