1. Purpose of the position: To oversee the activities of the QC laboratory, assist the HACCP, Food Safety and Food Safety Management Systems and Environmental activities required by IFF.
2. Scope: This job description defines the duties of the position of QC Supervisor.
3. Roles and Responsibility: (Act as stand-in for QA/QC Manager)

Key Requirements

  • To ensure that the QC laboratory conforms to the requirements of the SGS LAB Approval Standards Scheme.
  • To prioritize testing in the QC laboratory, trouble shoot and ensure that all administrative functions are performed, and records and documentation maintained according to ISO 9001. LAS and ISO 22000/FSSC requirements.
  • To assist with specifications on SAP, PL1 for finished goods, fragrances and raw materials and ensure that they are linked to the correct inspection plans.
  • To perform daily GMP walks in the production areas and the report non-conformances to the respective team leaders
  • To perform hygiene inspections and participate in the duties of the Food Safety Committee member, to assist in the planning and performing of internal ISO audits.
  • To investigate and monitor customer complaints and non-conformances. Ensure that the notifications for complaint are raised by  Customer Services Dept. 
  • Trend and report the customer complaints during the monthly management review and weekly non-conformance meetings.
  • To complete relevant corrective actions that may be required ensuring that notifications are effectively closed off. 
  • To use the 5 WHY RCA for all non-conformances and the 8D format where required.
  • Monitor internal non-conformances for out of spec product or processes and trend them in the failing report and discuss them in the weekly non- conformance meeting.
  • To monitor and control customer returned product and send communication to the customers on the outcome of the returns or complaints and handle internal technical queries (from CSD, CPD, Technical, Sales, QC, Planning, Production and Warehouse)
  • To assist in on- site Kosher and Halaal audits
  • To generate scrap notes for products that need to be discarded. Trend the scrap value monthly and trend the reasons.
  • To participate in HACCP, Food Safety, Food Safety Management systems, and the maintenance of the FSSC 22000 system and participate in Environmental aspects as required.
  • Assist with customer, FSSC 22000 and all 3rd party audits. 
  • Assist in develop policies, procedures, and quality training programs to be implemented through the company.
  • Assist in training production and warehouse operators on food safety, hygiene and sampling.
  • To develop and maintain good relationships with customer and other departments.
  • Maintain Tariff codes for the site Assist in RSPO and Iso 14000 audits Coordinate NPIs with QMDM east and the QC staff.
  • Assist with the IQD of TCCC samples
  • To conduct daily and weekly QC lab meetings.
  • To conduct and send monthly reports to the Operations manager
  • To assist in monitoring quality near misses. Stand-in for the microbiologist.
  • To perform any other reasonable and lawful duties as required by the company.

Qualification Requirements

1. Food Science Bachelor’s degree , Pharma or equivalent
2. Minimum of 5 years in a QA Supervisor type of function and/or commensurate experience
3. At least 3 years’ experience as a microbiologist in the food/dairy industry, experience in analytical analysis and well-trained tasting skills
4. Previous involvement and auditing experience in an ISO environment
5. Good analytical and communication (both verbal and written) skills in English, IT systems and Business Processes: SAP
