QA Engineer 3
We are seeking a detail-oriented Technical QA Engineer with expertise in testing Power BI Dashboards and data pipelines. You will work closely with data engineering and analytics teams to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and performance of data visualizations, ETL processes, and underlying data models. Your focus will be on validating data quality, automating test cases, and optimizing the dashboard performance to meet business needs.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SQL for validating data sources and performing complex queries.
- Experience with automation tools like Selenium, Postman, or PowerShell, DAX for testing and automation.
- Strong understanding of ETL processes, data warehousing, and data modeling.
- Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages to automate data validation.
- Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure Data Factory, AWS, or Google Cloud) is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Power BI Dashboard Testing:
- Design, develop, and execute test plans for Power BI dashboards, ensuring the data accuracy and functionality of reports.
- Validate dashboard performance, layout, visualizations, and ensure data consistency across different reports.
- Perform cross-browser and device compatibility tests to ensure dashboards render correctly.
- Data Validation & Testing:
- Work with the data engineering team to validate ETL pipelines, ensuring data is extracted, transformed, and loaded correctly into dashboards.
- Develop automated tests to validate the quality of large datasets used in reports and dashboards.
- Perform data reconciliation tests between source systems and Power BI dashboards.
- Automation & Test Strategy:
- Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks for dashboards and ETL processes using tools such as Selenium, Python, or PowerShell.
- Create test scripts to validate data flows between various data sources (SQL, APIs, Data Lakes).
- Identify areas for test automation and continuous integration to improve the testing process.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborate with data engineers, BI developers, and business analysts to understand requirements and define the scope of testing.
- Communicate defects, risks, and test results to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Assist in troubleshooting production issues, performing root cause analysis, and suggesting improvements.
- Performance & Load Testing:
- Conduct performance testing of dashboards, ensuring they handle large volumes of data without degradation in user experience.
- Monitor dashboard performance metrics and suggest optimization strategies for faster load times.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure dashboards comply with data governance, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Document test cases, test results, and provide feedback for improving quality and process efficiency.
