Position Overview:
The Proposal Manager is a member of the Contracts and Proposals team who works with the Business Development team to coordinate and produce the proposal responses that utilize the relevant service, product, and business knowledge required to win, while adhering to proposal procedures and processes. This is a role that requires an ability to work under pressure, to work quickly and efficiently with challenging deadlines, and to successfully manage a consistently high-volume workload. This role will serve as a single point of contact during the proposal development process.
Responsibilities:
- Receive requests and manage the development/maintenance of proposals, including updates/revisions to past proposals
- Maintain and update internal and client-specific templates for all proposals, keeping templates aligned with internal branding, if needed
- Develop responses to any/all assigned requests for information (RFIs) and requests for proposals (RFPs), as well as other requests for support from the business development team with minimal management supervision
- Owner of all aspects of the appropriate proposal process and provide leadership for all aspects of the process (text, budget) for assigned/accountable opportunities, utilizing independent judgement and discretion for completion (inclusive of managing opportunities autonomously, establishing clear timelines, meeting client requirements and deadlines, escalating obstacles)
- Lead development for all assigned proposals and associated budgets with minimal management support
- Utilize excellent judgement skills and experience to review and analyze RFP client documents, including protocol draft/synopsis and other matters of significance, to confirm receipt of adequate information to develop a thoughtful proposal response, requesting additional information, if necessary
- Organization and management of applicable strategic and operational calls related to the opportunity
- Adhere to policies and procedures for proposal development and client interaction, including managing timelines to ensure timely execution of deliverables.
- Delivery of compliant, professionally produced deliverables within customer-specified timeframes.
- Serve as primary support and contact for assigned proposals, including subsequent revisions
- Provide leadership in drafting and reviewing proposal content, utilizing discretion when reviewing provided guidance from a variety of additional stakeholders, including business development, marketing, product teams, finance, operations, and legal
- Collaboratively work with internal stakeholders to review and revise deliverables as needed
- Perform data entry into SalesForce
- Perform monthly reporting via SalesForce regarding team workload volume and monthly plan versus actual revenue reporting.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, business, finance, or related field or equivalent relevant experience
Experience:
- Proven ability in planning, producing, and delivering compliant proposals within a complex pharmaceutical or CRO business environment.
- 1-3 years of experience leading and developing proposals and responses to RFP/RFR/RFI requests
- 3+ years of experience in professional roles
- Strong Microsoft Office suite knowledge/familiarity
- SalesForce knowledge/familiarity
