Job Description
Per client requirements, only candidates that are residents of Michigan will be considered.
The Program Manager leads activities, helps generate ideas, and acquires inputs from cross-functional teams across the organization in order to research, develop, and design innovative energy efficiency pilot programs and business cases. The Program Manager is also responsible for acting as an SME for emerging energy efficiency technologies, field tests and new go-to-market solutions, including both electric and gas-saving solutions.
· The Program Manager will lead cross-functional teams to identify appropriate measures and approaches, develop budgets and pricing, and document impacts in support of solution design.
· The successful applicant will have demonstrated an ability to take responsibility and operate with limited direction to deliver thorough analyses in time-pressured situations.
· Client management will also be expected, and prior experience in a client-facing role is necessary.
· The Program Manager must be able to work effectively with members of many internal teams, including business development, operations/delivery, engineering, marketing, and information technology. Successful collaboration and accountability to one another ultimately ensures achievement of CLEAResult’s performance objectives.
Experience Preferred:
· Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams to develop business cases, deliver pilots or complete energy market and environmental studies
· Demonstrated expertise in program design, evaluation and utility needs in regulated energy markets
· Knowledge of budget development, measure modeling and forecasting
· Knowledge of all disciplines required to deliver electric and gas saving solutions across residential and commercial sectors, along with the capacity to add value across the chain of resources required to deliver those programs
· Significant experience in energy efficiency, renewable energy or related technologies concepts, practices, and procedures (7+ years.)
· Strong financial and market analysis experience and the ability to organize, document and present results in a clear and coherent fashion to both technical and non-technical audiences
· Strong critical thinking, research and time management skills
· Strong interest in innovation, demonstrated ability to think creativity and ask questions, curious
· Bachelor's degree in environmental science, energy analysis, building science, architecture, engineering, statistics, economics, or studies that have a basis in analysis
Responsibilities Include:
Project Management and Development of Pilot Business Cases
· The Program Manager will take the lead in managing inputs and insights from Clients, customers, external sources, Regional Delivery Leads, as well as cross-functional teams to as needed during solutioning for new opportunities or for refinements in existing pilots and solutions.
· The Program Manager will manage the development of multiple pilot program ideas and subsequent designs, and will lead this effort through research, localized insights gained from the market, and by working with other teammates.
· The Program Manager will manage the hand-off (aka Handshake) from a successful pilot to the Program Delivery team during project / pilot start-up.
General SME Skills:
· Serves as organization’s SME for innovative and emerging technologies and solutions
· Works with Clients, Product Managers, Marketing team, and other stakeholders to refine proposed pilot inputs based on expertise
· Works with Information Technology team to specify digital functionality that will enhance proposed pilot solutions
· Works with Engineering to formulate market-appropriate and cost-effective measure mix by combining existing and new measures and conducting analyses consistent with applicable regulation
· Ensures pilot designs include technical specifications for measures that are appropriate to the market
· Understands evaluation risks associated with measures and associated subject matter, and develops and communicates strategies to mitigate risks during pilot design
· Capable of reviewing filings, utility commission documents, and evaluator documents for technical findings and incorporating learnings into new solutions
· Develop deep knowledge and expertise across a range of solutions with cross-training on the entire product suite
Solutioning in support of Pilot Development:
· Accountable for leading complete solution design of multiple pilot concepts and detailing for each, the proposed scope, budget, and rationale for Clients to approve each pilot business cases
· Localize pilots to meet specific Client and Geographic needs
· Direct development of proposed specifications, pricing considerations and key delivery terms. Ensure that proposed pilot solutions are matched with the specific customer needs and that the corresponding value proposition is incorporated into the business case
· Responsible and accountable for working with teams to finalize product specifications and ensure their successful development and delivery
Market Analysis & Research:
· Guide work of market intelligence team on market segments relevant to a range of pilot ideas
· Conduct and lead research into new and emerging technologies, opportunities and go-to-market approaches
· Remain informed about developments in the government, economic, scientific, political, industrial, and international fields as they apply to the future of the market
· Organize information to assist in analyzing future measures and make recommendations for the development of new measures
· Analyze and translate consumer and market insight into actionable strategies and tactics
