The Process Operator (Extruder) executes a broad range operational activities/processes, in accordance with established specifications and (quality, safety and environment) guidelines, to achieve the production / operational targets for the assigned area.
The Process Operator (Extruder) is an “all-round” operator role, capable of performing all operational processes in production, including extruder operations. They are able to operate all types of equipment and machinery that requires advanced specialized. They typically combine proficiency in the specialized use of materials, equipment and tools with a broad practical work experience.
The Process Operator (Extruder) is the highest operator role in the day-to-day production process, working closely with the (Shift) Supervisor / Team Leader. In a 24/7 production environment, outside day-shift hours, they support the Production Supervisor in ensuring the continuous running of the plant’s production processes.
Depending on the size and structure of the production organization, they may be capable / required to stand-in for supervisory roles in production.

Role Overview
This is a full-time on-site opportunity located in Westbury, Tasmania for a Production Operator with Extruder operation experience. This permanent opportunity offers great career prospects with a privately owned global leader in aquaculture feeds, operating inside an international network. The Process Operator (Extruder) role is responsible for running the Extruder Production line as well as the quality and throughput of the line, as well as being cross-trained to cover other production work stations such as raw material intake and packing operations.
Our operations run 24 hours, currently with 4 x 12 hour rotating shifts but with a forward projection of increased rosters to meet growing demand.

Salary range: $85,000 – $100,000 + 5% variable bonus & overtime
Reporting directly to the Production Supervisor, this opportunity will see you: :
o Operate mill and extrusion equipment within operating and safety guidelines
o Perform equipment troubleshooting and adjustments as required
o Continually monitor production versus plan status across the mill
o Actively participate in the shift handover process
o Capture and interpret data through visual systems
o Undertake safety, quality and environmental procedures, processed and checks as required
o Contribute to basic operator equipment maintenance (OEM) and work area management (WAM) projects
o Maintain a high level of workplace safety and activities to support our safety first, zero harm ethos
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
o Minimum 3-4 years manufacturing (operational) experience or other high-risk environment (desirable)
o Previous experience as an extruder or process operator
o A strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement
o Demonstrated ability to function well under pressure, solution-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
o Experience and knowledge of computer-controlled machinery, methodical and detailed reporting and registration of key production data
o Strong level of literacy and computer skills
o Demonstrated communication skills across verbal and written systems and structures
Qualifications
o Trade qualification or other vocational certificate
o License to Perform High Risk Work (Fork Lift)
