About the Role

This position is within HARMAN’s Automotive Engineering department, the primary responsibility is to provide hardware and software applications support of audio systems and drive solutions for improving vehicle system-level interactions. Also, the position will be the bridge between the customer and internal engineering teams. The Engineering team is looking for the ultimate team player that thinks positive, loves customers, and can manage projects independently. The successful candidate will be highly flexible in finding solutions for our customer’s needs and will have a demonstrated track record of success with audio systems engineering and customer facing interaction
What You Will Do

  • The SW SME for amplifiers plays a pivot role in the Car Audio Strategic Business Units. The business unit markets, designs, engineers and manufactures advanced audio amplifiers, speakers, and microphones for most of the OEMs (Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Suzuki etc.).
  • You will interact with customers around the globe, engineering centers in China, India and Mexico, Program Managers, and other stakeholders to develop Car Audio products.
  • You will be involved in the design review of SW work products following the project lifecycle. Some examples are High Level Risk Analysis, High level Platform Reuse Matrix, SW Feature Roll-Out Plan, SW TRS, Software Architecture Specification, SW Integration Test Strategy, SW Detailed Design, SW Unit Code, Static Analysis Report, etc.
  • You will hold a centric position during the request for quotations by technically leading the SW portion of the concept freeze and concept approval in RFQ and RFI. It includes specifications review, SW architecture, effort estimation, and stakeholder’s alignment.
  • You will mediate in deep technical SW topics between the customers, suppliers and engineering centers. It requires the coordination, definition, troubleshooting and communication of critical issues to the stakeholders.
  • You will play a leading role in deep technical SW issues in front to the customer. It requires planning the support, describing the issues, articulate the root cause analysis, organizing stakeholders meeting, definition of actions, etc.

What You Need

  • 10 or more years of experience in SW development for automotive embedded systems with C/C++
  • Experience with SW technologies for automotive applications, such as AUTOSAR, Automotive SPICE, Functional Safety ISO26262, Cybersecurity ISO21434, digital signal processing, RTOS, middleware, Vector tools, etc
  • Familiar with HW embedded systems around SoC, MCU, and DSP, using electronic communication busses such as A2B, CAN, AVB, I2C, SPI, etc.
  • Experience in audio products in automotive applications
  • Fluent communication in Japanese and English

What is Nice to Have

  • Hands-on electronics system debug experience.
  • Following experience preferred.
    • Automotive CAN
    • Automotive EAVB
    • Automotive A2B
    • AUTOSAR
  • Ability to use common electronic trouble-shooting tools such as oscilloscopes, CAN log trace tools, current clamps, spectrum analyzers, soldering iron, etc preferred.
  • Embedded system software development in C/C++ and model-based familiarity desired
