About the Role

This position is within HARMAN’s Automotive Engineering department, the primary responsibility is to provide hardware and software applications support of audio systems and drive solutions for improving vehicle system-level interactions. Also, the position will be the bridge between the customer and internal engineering teams. The Engineering team is looking for the ultimate team player that thinks positive, loves customers, and can manage projects independently. The successful candidate will be highly flexible in finding solutions for our customer’s needs and will have a demonstrated track record of success with audio systems engineering and customer facing interaction.

What You Will Do

  • Single point customer interface for Engineering project and technical issues
    • Main electrical and software engineering interface between Harman Engineering and customer.
    • Serve at the Technical Contact to customer for initial technical discussions to achieve fast customer response and maintain customer relationship.
    • Create and present problem-solving documents to the customer (5 Phase, Fishbone, Is/Is Not).
    • Lead/Present first level technical discussions during customer meetings.
    • Lead/coordinate Engineering disciplines to create customer presentations that are high quality and meet customer expectations (Technical, Project, Problem Solving).
  • Coordinate engineering changes between Harman and customer.
    • Work with Harman Program Managers to establish Engineering deliverables/milestones required to meet timing.
    • Work with Resident Engineers to track progress in customer Engineering change system to meet deliverables.
  • Coordinate between internal Harman Engineering departments.
    • Oversees projects from a technical perspective and intervenes to ensure customer and internal requirements are met.
    • Lead Harman internal alignment meetings to ensure voice of the customer is understood and considered.

What You Need

  • At least 10 years of Engineering experience.
  • Design Engineering experience in Hardware or/and Software around SoC, MCU, and DSP, using electronic communication busses such as A2B, CAN, AVB, I2C, etc
  • Willing to work with global team, good communicator to customer and internal teams.
  • Ability to create Structured Problem-Solving documents (8-D, 5- PHASE, Fault Tree Analysis, Fish Bone Analysis, Is/Is Not).
  • Ability to work autonomously and operate with limited guidance/supervision.
  • Fluent communication in Japanese and English

What is Nice to Have

  • Design experience in automotive electronics.
  • Experience working at an automotive Tier 1.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in Audio Amplifier design.
  • Participation in or having led product launches.
