The position

HBK is currently looking for a Field Sales Engineer for our Physical Test team. The position will be based in Nagoya (or Tokyo), Japan.

The Field Sales Engineer will be responsible for customer development and management for accounts in Physical Test (with customers mainly working in research & development in various markets, including automotive, aerospace & defense, etc.).

You will join our dedicated sales department in Japan, supporting the business growth of Physical Test solutions spanning sound & vibration to electrical power testing, to mechanical & structural testing and analysis.

Primary responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for the field sales of the entire portfolio of sensors, data acquisition (DAQ), software, and services for customers, system integrators, engineering companies and distributors involved in R&D.

Your daily work includes:

  • Sales activities to achieve revenue goals and order intake objectives, promotion and sales of sensors, data acquisition (DAQ), software, services, and solutions
  • Customer relationship management, maintaining relationship with existing customers including SCPs (Sales Channel Partners) and/or distributers, seeking and develop new business opportunities and new effective partners.
  • Carrying out technical communications with customers, demonstrating products, showing unique selling points to develop and pursue sales opportunities.
  • Generating ideas and solutions by making connections with diverse customers, markets and processes, assisting clients in system configuration, product selection, training, and troubleshooting.
  • Sales process management, i.e. qualifying leads, developing and closing sales opportunities, forecasting, and managing the opportunity pipeline
  • Collect and analyzing market and industry information, helping to gather the voice of the customer and providing input and insights for strategy.

Professional qualifications

You have a minimum or 3 years of documented selling or support experience with sensors and measurement instruments, automation and control, signal acquisition and processing, industrial process control, or test and measurement.

Personal skills

  • Proven track record of sales performance in related industry
  • Technical background and experience in selling technical products to customers
  • Excellence in commercial understanding, communication, and business negotiation
  • Willing to make frequent business trips
  • Honest and trustworthy, strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation, willing to do hands-on work, and also work as a member of a team
  • Good speaking and writing in English, ability to read technical documentation
  • IT knowledge (Microsoft® Office, CRM systems, etc.)
