Job Description
As a Logistics Operations Coordinator, you will be providing an operational logistic framework for the assigned areas, primarily Europe-Asia mostly by deep sea ocean & sometimes land freight. You will manage daily operations and be involved in the distribution process. This details logistical tasks such as transportation, and customer service. You should have a solid working knowledge of the responsibilities of all parties in the export transaction including that of the buyer, supplier, ocean/inland carriers, customs agent, and governmental entities such as the customs authorities and environmental agencies. It's a demanding role that requires sharp eyes, clear communication, an organized mindset, and a good sense of humor.
Every day is a new challenge! Resolving those challenges is a key aspect of this role. Always providing and concreting movement options, this will be your priority every day, all day. Working with the team, and making sure that our sales contracts are being fulfilled timely. Help our logistics team, to strategize accounts and markets and basically be the spider in the web for supporting both operations and logistics to keep the business moving.
Your day-to-day may look like this:
- Manage the transportation and distribution operations and drive continuous improvements and productivity gains. Mostly by the ocean (booking vessels, and mapping routes), and sometimes by land (trucks, trains, etc.).
- Overcome challenges (vessel/loading delays, unplanned container inspections, short deadlines, just to name a few) to help ensure that delivery is made in line with internal and external customers’ requirements and in compliance with regulatory requirements (customs and environmental entities).
- Manage the export operations in conjunction with the Logistics Team.
- In collaboration with the Logistics team, maintaining and developing partnerships with existing, new, and potential service providers through effective vendor/client management.
- Work cross-functionally with sourcing (buyers), operations team, and logistics team, to identify improvement opportunities and implement successful simplification efforts, that benefit the team locally and are in line with global procedures.
- Support change initiatives to enable operational logistics to reach a world-class level of operations and digitization.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2-4 years of working experience in logistics, or supply chain management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or similar training (i.e., vessel planning, customs, inland operations, etc.) is a plus.
- Solid knowledge and experience in transportation, import and export regulations, and requirements for European countries including letters of credit, international trade, and shipping incoterms.
- Proficiency in SAP & Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced (at least 300 containers+ p/w) and dynamic environment.
- Solid communication and coordination skills working across time zones and countries.
- Positive thinker with a can-do spirit and a change agent mentality.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and organized, with the ability to spot discrepancies quickly, analyze data and communicate timely.
- Fluent in English and any other languages is a big plus (i.e., Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, and German).
