The Four Seasons Resort Maldives is currently looking for Grounds & Landscaping Manager who shares our passion for excellence and is enthusiastic about creating memorable guest experiences. The Grounds & Landscaping Manager is part of a diverse and dynamic team that provides award-winning service to our valued guests. This position reports to the Director of Engineering.

A Maldivian work permit will be provided by the resort.

Special Requirements

  • Has 4 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Possesses aptitude, management skills and upward mobility
  • Possesses excellent English, math and psychometric abilities. Proficient in English written and spoken an advantage.
  • Possesses tertiary education in Horticulture or Landscape Management
  • Physically fit

Major Responsibilities

General

  • Builds a motivated and skilled team, leads by example and instils a culture of continuous learning and improvement among employees; actively participates in Employee Relations activities and programmes
  • Actively plans and manages the career development of every employee through effective coaching, training and by instilling company values; is concerned for employees' continuous development and personal growth
  • Organizes and manages the department in accordance with company philosophy and policies, maximizing efficiency and productivity and achieving established goals; promotes harmony between departments
  • Displays warmth, care and genuine enthusiasm when dealing with guests and internal customers; lives the Golden Rule
  • Demonstrates standards awareness, by setting example for standards execution, standards testing and implementing action plans to achieve established product and service goals
  • Prepares annual plans and forecasts, consistently monitors and manages budgetary goals

Departmental

  • Maintains existing Resort landscape in a first class condition at all times.
  • Plans daily tasks and set long term plans in place for maintenance and improvements to the Resorts landscape.
  • Provides feedback and recommendations for improvements to the landscape
  •      Systematically conduct standard tests during shift and communicate training and re-training needs to Department Head.
  •      Oversee the orientation and training of new employees and supervise the Designated Trainers

Specific Responsibilities and Tasks

General

  • Maintains an organized administration of departmental and personnel records, including rostering and leave planning
  • Ensures employees adhere to the code of conduct and grooming & hygiene standards as specified in the employee handbook
  • Conducts daily briefing and monthly departmental meeting (with minutes copied to division head) and participates in meetings when invited
  • Provides regular and fair performance feedback to employees, formally and informally as appropriate
  • Is seen as a hands-on leader, assists employees in crunch times; Walks the talk
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area and ensures tools & equipment are well maintained and in sufficient supply
  • Promotes and ensures a safe working environment
  • Performs any additional duties as assigned

Departmental

  • Prepare daily tasks for the G&L team and conduct daily briefing for communication of the days activities
  • Daily walk through of the property to review landscape condition
  • Manage a nursery operation and prepare new plant material for planting
  • Read and review publications and stay up to date with current trends in Resort landscaping
  • Attend all landscape inspections and follow up on any matters arising from the inspections
  • Ensure that stocks of equipment and consumables are always adequate to allow the team to maintain the landscape
  • Maintains close working relationship with the contractor and supervises third party service providers.
