SUMMARY
Accountable for a recognized section, group of sections or group within a section. May have subordinate managers, typically has degree and at least 15 years increasingly responsible experience, at the management levels.
The Risk Management General Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the organization's risk processes, ensuring alignment with the established risk tolerance levels, coordinating mitigation strategies for identified risks and managing insurance program. This role involves close collaboration with the Business Leadership and Corporate Owners, as well as regular reporting to the Group VP – Risk Management.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and Manage Risk Process:
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive risk management framework.
- Work collaboratively with Corporate Leaders to ensure processes for risk identification are updated and reported annually.
- Continuously monitor the organization’s risk landscape and identify emerging risks.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits.
- Coordinate with Risk Team for Acceptable Risk Tolerance:
- Ensure annual review and approval of the risk tolerance table by the Risk Management Steering Committee.
- Facilitate discussions to establish and communicate the organization’s risk tolerance levels.
- Provide Mitigation Options:
- Coordinate with corporate owners to develop mitigation strategies for identified risk areas.
- Ensure appropriate sign-off and acceptance of risks where applicable.
- Provide Analysis to Appropriate Corporate Team Based on Risk Register:
- Analyze risk data and provide insights to relevant corporate teams.
- Support decision-making processes with risk-related information.
- Escalate Identified Risks to Risk Management Team When Appropriate:
- Identify and escalate significant risks to the Risk Management Steering Committee for further action.
- Ensure timely communication of risk-related issues.
- Consolidate and Report Bi-Annually on Identified Risks to BOD:
- Prepare and present bi-annual reports on identified risks to the Board of Directors.
- Ensure transparency and accountability in risk management practices.
- Directs managers and other employees in the group.
- Provides leadership in problem solving and improvement activities.
- Ensures establishment and maintenance of work instructions, process procedures, and standards.
- Assists in developing the long term strategy of the group.
- Analyzes the actual performance of group in relation to submitted objectives and targets.
- Communicates with upper management to garner support for group operations.
- Leads subordinate managers.
- Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., FRM, PRM, CRM) is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in risk management software and tools.
