We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced people manager to join our team as a Functional Specialist Team Manager, based in Wales you will be there to oversee a team of Functional Specialists providing motivation and guidance. You will also ensure the professional administration of policies, procedures, and documentation, set objectives and performance targets, and plan workloads.
Collaborating closely with the Service Delivery Manager, you will develop your team's skills to their full potential, uphold the highest standards of claimant care and quality, and keep everyone informed about business aims and market changes. Job Description:

What you’ll be doing:

  • Focus on Business Objectives: Understand the significance of achieving internal and external service levels to avoid financial penalties, enhance customer satisfaction, and reduce complaints and escalations.
  • Adhere to Capita policies and local initiatives. Take responsibility for managing human resources, including developing direct reports through performance management techniques such as objective setting, one-on-one meetings, appraisals, recruitment, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
  • Foster team motivation and maintain a positive team ethos while minimizing staff absence and attrition.
  • Ensure compliance with defined processes and reporting requirements both personally and among team members.
  • Leverage management information effectively to understand quality issues, key performance indicators (KPIs), and trends. Address these to improve the HAAS contract.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Learning Support team, Regional Clinical Team, and Clinical Governance Team. Monitor quality through retrospective work reviews and side-by-side assessments. Set improvement plans for Functional Specialists.
  • Actively participate in the escalation process by identifying operational risks that may impact service delivery.

What we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coach teams of up to 12 Full-Time Equivalents (FTE). This includes motivating and guiding team members to achieve their best performance.
  • Possession of a valid driving license and access to a personal vehicle. This skill is essential for roles that involve travel or fieldwork within Wales
  • Solid understanding of human resources (HR) processes, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee development.
  • Familiarity with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and their significance in evaluating individual and team performance.
  • Driven by performance goals and outcomes. Ability to focus efforts on achieving measurable results.
  • Comfortable with change and able to work efficiently in dynamic environments. Quick to adjust to new processes, tools, or requirements.
  • Able to articulate thoughts clearly through both written and verbal communication. Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable navigating uncertain situations and making informed decisions despite incomplete information.

About HAAS

The Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS) arranges and carries out assessments for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Department for Communities (DfC). The purpose of the assessment is to understand how an illness or disability affects a person’ daily life. After the assessment, the DWP/DfC makes the decision as to whether the individual will receive any benefits.

The Health Assessment Advisory Service is delivered on behalf of the DWP & DfC by Capita.
