Responsibilities:
• Identify, design, develop and launch activities related to fiber spinning and web
formation.
• Assist in new project development or raw material qualification.
• Conduct time studies that may support findings.
• Present project findings and help scope actions that can be taken beyond the
internship.
Qualifications:
• Sophomore and above undergraduate student or graduate student
• Majors: Chemical engineering, Fiber and Polymer Science, Materials Science,
Mechanical Engineering (with materials focus), Textiles Technology, Textile
Engineering, Polymer Color Chemistry. Other majors are considered
based on experience.
• GPA: Preferred 3.0/4.0 or above. Exceptions may be made based on experience
and institution.
• Workplace safety training (e.g. OSHA 10 certification)
• Fluency in Microsoft Office
• Basic programming in VBA, familiarity with SQL and Access Familiarity with
statistical software packages (e.g. Minitab)
• Good people skills (ability to work and communicate with individuals from all
levels of the organization)
• Communication (written reports, verbal one-on-one, small group, and formal
presentation)
• Project management (balancing multiple, sometimes conflicting, priorities)
• Ability to interpret technical documents and reduce to easily understood
instructions (e.g. converting an ASTM test method to a work instruction for lab
personnel)
• Troubleshooting of lab equipment
