About the Role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a growing team of engineers in building scalable, innovative solutions for the future of education. In this role, you will focus on people management, team development, and engineering excellence while maintaining a strong technical foundation. If you're passionate about fostering a high-performing, inclusive engineering culture and shaping the technology that powers modern education, we’d love to hear from you!

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Hire, mentor, and retain top engineering talent in a competitive edtech landscape.
  • Implement career development plans and performance reviews to support engineers’ growth.
  • Foster a culture of learning, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Drive scalable architecture to handle increased user adoption across universities and schools.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and leadership teams to define and execute the Campus Roadmap.
  • Improve platform stability and performance, ensuring a seamless experience for students, educators, and administrators.

We’re excited about you because…

  • You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or management role.
  • You possess strong people management skills, with a proven ability to mentor, coach, and grow engineering talent.
  • You have a solid technical background in modern web technologies and scalable architectures.
  • You have the ability to review technical designs, contribute to architectural decisions, and guide engineers while allowing them autonomy.
  • You have excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with engineering, product, and cross-functional teams.
  • You have a track record of successfully hiring, onboarding, and retaining high-performing engineers.
  • Passion for building a strong engineering culture that values innovation, psychological safety, and continuous learning.

Ideally you also have:

  • Experience in edtech, SaaS platforms, or B2B enterprise applications.
  • Hands-on experience with microservices architecture, DevOps practices, or modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js).

What you’ll get:

  • A compensation package that includes a base salary ($180,000 - $240,000) + equity grant
    • Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. For roles that are available to be filled remotely, base salary is localized according to employee work location.
  • Medical Insurance + free Dental and Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) match
  • “Take what you need” PTO + several paid holidays
  • In-office lunches for our NY Office (did we mention, we’re dog friendly? 🐶)
  • Flexible working hours & a hybrid work schedule (Mon & Fri remote; Tues-Thurs in-office)
  • Social events - happy hours, birthday celebrations, holiday parties, & more
  • Opportunity to make an impact – you’ll be an integral player in bringing our vision to life

Why Work With Us

We’re inspired by the efforts of those seeking to increase completion rates for community college students. We find the CUNY ASAP program and its efforts to address how systemic barriers and unique personal responsibilities may hinder many students completing their degree especially compelling.
