A central role on one of the most respected editorial teams in the business, the Editorial Coordinator at HBR Press reports to a senior editor and provides a wide range of support to the department. This position coordinates the flow of information to other departments of the Press, the HBR Group, Harvard Business Publishing Corporation, and important external Press contacts including authors, agents, viewers, and endorsers. The Editorial Coordinator will be required to regularly collaborate with each member of the Press editorial team to support the publication of 20-25 books per year, managing various parts of the acquisition, development, and pre-publication processes. The Editorial Coordinator also serves as liaison with the marketing, sales, publicity, and production departments.
The Editorial Coordinator will have opportunities to work with senior editors on evaluating and editing book proposals and manuscripts, creating and editing jacket copy, curating and editing titles in HBR branded lines, and managing the HBR Press revised editions program. The Editorial Coordinator will also have the opportunity to edit short-form digital content and adapt Press book excerpts for online publication.

What you’ll do:
- Create and main editorial records for titles under contract
- Maintain and update editorial databases and project archives
- Prepare, track, and distribute contracts and signed contract information
- Manage advance payments to authors
- Manage the review process for manuscripts in development in coordination with the editors
- Manage the endorsement quote process with authors and the marketing department
- Manage the distribution of Press books to authors, agents, endorsers, reviewers, and other key contacts
- Respond to unsolicited proposals and manuscripts and other routine editorial inquiries
- Provide other administrative assistance
What you’ll bring:
- 1-2 years work experience is preferred
- High-level organization skills with attention to detail
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once
- Thorough grasp of English language syntax and grammar
- Sharp editorial instincts and a desire to learn about the book editing and publishing process
** We will only consider applicants who are Boston based, this is a hybrid position.

Above is the annualized pay range for this position. In addition, this position includes the opportunity to earn our annual Performance Based Variable Pay Program. Actual salary will be set based upon a range of factors, including external benchmark market data, individual knowledge, skills, experience, location and internal equity.
