Overview:
As an ECAD/MCAD Librarian, you would manage and maintain electronic and mechanical component libraries, ensuring seamless integration between electrical and mechanical design workflows, including creating and validating schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and 3D models.
Responsibilities:
Library Management:
- Manage and maintain electronic and mechanical component libraries, including schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and 3D models.
- Ensure libraries are accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible to engineers.
- Develop and implement library management processes and procedures.
- Conduct routine library maintenance, including updating components, fixing errors, and ensuring compliance with standards.
Component Creation and Validation:
- Create and validate complex schematic symbols and PCB footprints for various ECAD software (e.g., Allegro).
- Develop and maintain accurate 3D models and metadata for electronic components in MCAD software (e.g., Siemens NX).
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., IPC) and company guidelines.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to understand their needs and ensure seamless integration of components into designs.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to address library issues and ensure smooth workflows.
Other Potential Responsibilities:
- Assist with the development and implementation of new library standards and processes.
- Provide training and support to engineers on library usage.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IPC).
- Experience with library management tools and databases.
- Proven experience as an ECAD/MCAD librarian or a related role.
- Strong proficiency in ECAD and MCAD software, with experience in Allegro, Siemens NX, or similar tools.
- Solid understanding of electronic and mechanical design principles, component libraries, and industry standards.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
