Based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and reporting to the VP EHS, the Director EHS will play a key role across multiple locations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico in achieving the company’s EHS goals, with the focus on continuously improving Regal Rexnord’s EHS management system, reducing injuries and incidents and driving cultural improvements.
In this role, they will collaborate with a diverse team across company’s manufacturing and distribution footprint in the execution of our EHS strategy. They will partner with and support the regional Operations and Functional Leadership Teams to improve EHS metrics and achieve the business segment’s objectives and targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, execute and drive RRX’s Environmental Health and Safety Management System and strategy.
- Proactively identify, develop, and implement strategic, and operational process improvements across the manufacturing footprint in pursuit of a Zero Harm work environment.
- Partner with business leaders across multiple functions to drive EHS performance and support the development of EHS continuous improvement plans.
- Support business leaders in preparation for management reviews, reporting EHS metrics, and improvement plans.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement processes and technologies that support the organization’s EHS strategy, goals, and targets.
- Conduct frequent site visits and participate in management gemba walks, while coaching and developing operations and functional leaders.
- Apply 80/20 principles in identifying lower performing sites, determine root cause and support corrective action plans to improve performance.
- Actively participate in kaizen events to drive continuous improvement and facilitate EHS related kaizen events.
- Conduct regulatory compliance audits and directly support local management teams in maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Conduct EHS management system audits in line with RRX’s EHS Management system
- Ensure all sites in the region report EHS and sustainability metrics on-time.
- Support the businesses in achieving their sustainability goals by creating roadmaps to reduce energy, carbon, water and waste across the manufacturing footprint.
- Lead safety campaigns to drive safety culture.
- Develop and assess EHS talent across the region.
- Participate in EHS performance reviews at dedicated sites.
Professional Experience/ Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental or related fields required.
- Certified Safety Professional preferred.
- Minimum seven years of progressive EHS experience including multi-site management required.
- Strong knowledge of safety and environmental regulatory laws, inspection procedures, audits, hazard reviews, incident prevention, incident investigation techniques, and safety and environmental education and training.
- Requires practical knowledge in leading and managing processes, projects, and tactics within the EHS field.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to influence and drive change.
- Must be a persistent self-starter who can work effectively and lead others with minimum oversight.
- Incumbent must be able to work effectively with all levels the organization and with individuals outside of the company.
- Proficiency in the use of computers with knowledge of MS office products including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
