The Sanitation Lead is responsible to lead the sanitation team in the absence of the Sanitation Manager. The Lead is responsible to inspect, train and follow the American Dairy Association and the United States Department of Agriculture guidelines, the American Institute of Baking regulations, the Food and Drug Administration regulations, and company policies.  Responsibilities also include directing a team of people through a work schedule and promoting a safe work environment. 

 

Essential Functions: 

 

  • Direct a team’s workflow/set priorities. 

  • Enter sanitation data to MSS and other documents. 

  • Train and certify shift sanitors in proper equipment cleaning practices. 

  • Direct others in the use of sanitation Gantt charts, standard work, and other documents. 

  • Coordinate daily activities of all Sanitation employees and Production employees working in Sanitation. 

  • Coordinate sanitation workflow with other departments. 

  • Conduct ATP testing. 

  • Generate requisition of chemicals necessary for the sanitation process. 

  • Ensure safety policies and sanitation regulations are being followed. 

  • Inspect lines to sanitation standards. 

  • Assist team with troubleshooting and conflict resolution. 

  • Communicate issues and concerns daily with Sanitation Manager. 

  • Follow proper GMP and safety guidelines. 

  • Ensure confidential information is upheld. 

  • Provide daily editing to employee pay grades and enter vacation with the use of Kronos. 

  • Enter Work Notifications in SAP 

  • Create and update training materials as needed (SSOP/MSS) 

 

Other Job Duties: 

 

  • Train back-ups in positions as needed. 

  • Assist team in maintaining work areas in a safe and clean environment. 

  • Work with Sanitation Manager to coordinate workflow during down time. 

  • Assist Sanitation Manager with conflict resolution and morale building. 

  • Other duties as directed by Sanitation Manager. 

 

 

Working Conditions 

 

Exposure to moving mechanical parts, food fumes, airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, and loud noise levels.  

 

Job Qualification Requirements 

 

  • Mental aptitude 

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Strong preference given for Associate or Technical Degree)

  • Ability to comprehend and communicate in basic English and interact with all levels of the organization. 

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to analyze data and draw logical conclusions with minimal guidance, and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 

  • Strong ability to work independently or/and with others. 

  • Skill and Knowledge 

  • Shift Sanitor certified. 

  • Trained in sanitation and chemical safety practices 

  • The person must be knowledgeable on all regulations that govern sanitation and possess 1 to 2 years of working experience in a sanitation leadership role. 

  • Forklift, High Lift, and Articulated (Boom) Lift certified. 

  • FSPCA Certified
