As a Data Platform Engineer, you will be directly involved in designing and implementing data solutions that improve performance and scalability. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Implement Data Solutions: Help create and implement data solutions that automate processes and optimise data delivery, with guidance from more experienced team members.
- Manage and Enhance Data Systems: Support the ongoing improvement and maintenance of data systems, pipelines, and storage solutions to meet the evolving needs of the business.
- Ensure Data System Performance: Monitor the health and performance of data systems, responding to incidents and ensuring system reliability.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to contribute to data-driven projects that directly impact the business.
- Promote Best Practices: Contribute to the development and refinement of best practices for data management, workflows, and solution design.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Help document processes and solutions, contributing to knowledge sharing and compliance across teams.
What We’re Looking for:
- SQL Skills: Familiarity with SQL (T-SQL) programming is preferred, or a strong willingness to learn.
- Understanding of Data Systems: A basic understanding of data storage systems, including RDBMS and NoSQL databases, and data formats such as JSON and XML.
- Programming Enthusiast: A foundational understanding of programming concepts and a problem-solving mindset.
- Agile Experience: Comfort with working in an Agile environment and a desire to learn through hands-on experience.
- Effective Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and cloud tools such as Azure DevOps is a plus.
- Experience with Business Intelligence tools like PowerBI or Tableau would be beneficial.
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, though relevant hands-on experience will also be considered.
- Certifications in data engineering or cloud platforms, such as Azure Fundamentals, are advantageous.
