About the Organization
A Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization committed to making a lasting impact through thoughtful innovation, operational excellence, and a strong sense of community. The organization is a staple in the Los Angeles community and values collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement. We are currently seeking a Controller to join their leadership team and oversee core financial operations, reporting directly to the CFO.
Role Overview:
- Manage the business office’s accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, payroll support, and oversight of accounts payable and receivable
- Supervise a small team to ensure accuracy, compliance, and integrity of all financial operations
- Support audits, manage financial systems and controls, and ensure adherence to internal procedures
- Prepare detailed financial reports for leadership and board committees
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in line with GAAP and organizational policies
- Work closely with the CFO on financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
- Contribute to the development and implementation of financial controls and best practices
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless financial operations across the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA, MBA or advanced degree is a plus
- 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience in a nonprofit or private school setting
- Strong skills in financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and internal controls
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
