Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic VP, Controller to lead our accounting and financial reporting functions. Reporting to the CFO, this role is a key part of the finance leadership team, responsible for overseeing global accounting operations, ensuring financial accuracy, maintaining compliance, and driving process improvements. The ideal candidate has deep SaaS experience, strong leadership skills, and a track record of building and scaling high-performing teams.
Note: This is a remote position, preferably based in the San Francisco Bay Area for occasional in-office meetings.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax compliance
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements
- Manage the annual audit process and relationships with external auditors
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SaaS revenue recognition standards (ASC 606)
- Evaluate and improve accounting processes, systems, and policies to support scaling operations
- Collaborate with FP&A to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making
- Lead system implementations and enhancements, including ERP and financial planning tools
- Partner with the CFO and executive leadership on accounting strategy, risk management, and investor relations
- Build and mentor a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA with experience from a Big 4 accounting firm and extensive corporate accounting experience, ideally within SaaS
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, ASC 606, and SaaS business models
- Familiarity with with ERP, Billing, Procurement, and Financial Close Tools (ex: NetSuite, Zuora, Salesforce, SteelBrick, Coupa and Gaapify)
- IPO/public company experience preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

The US base salary range for this position at the start of employment is $212,000 - $310,000. Within this range, individual pay is determined by specific US work location, as well as additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and internal equity considerations.
Please note that the range listed above reflects only base salary. The total compensation package includes variable pay (where applicable), equity, plus a range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and financial. In addition, we offer perks such as generous stipends for health & fitness and learning & development, among others.
