Compliance Engineer

Job Description:

This position will be based at our Brazil facility and will have a dual reporting to Juliana Santos, local management support.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do: 

• Provide direct and timely compliance and certifications support to other teams in the company (Sales and Operations, Quality, Marketing, EHS) focusing on the Latam region, especially Brazil, Mexico and Colombia. 
• Manage all assigned compliance and certification projects for the company with the 3rd-party test houses and certification agencies. 
• Provide regular updates to in-region stakeholder groups (predominantly sales and project services) 
• Provide product safety compliance, expertise and guidance.  
• Provide insight and analysis on new solar tracker standards development activities and participate in both national and international standards technical committees (examples:). 
• Provide certification guidance to various offices and technical support to certification test labs (as needed).  
• Occasional business travel to the South and Central Americas is expected (<25% of the year) to support any in-state certification requirements. 
• Responsible for creating comprehensible technical documentation regarding compliance with regulatory standards, product descriptions and reporting. 

Here are some of what you’ll need (required) 

• B.S. Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical). 
• English: Advanced 
• Minimum of 7 years of overall regulatory compliance industry experience (can include Safety, EMC, RF, and Wireless and Environmental compliance). 
• 5+ years of working in the Product Safety Compliance field (should include some experience with UL, CSA, ANSI, ISO, EN and IEC safety standards). 
• 3+ years of formal certifications experience working directly with or employed under a compliance test lab such as UL, TUV, SUD, SGS, NTS, Bureau VERITAS or Intertek. 
• Experience working with Anatel/INMETRO. 
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the year, both domestic and international. 

Here are a few of our preferred experiences 

• Spanish: Advanced 
• 7+ years overall compliance industry experience. 
• Wireless, Reliability and/or Environmental compliance experience. 
• Manufacturing experience, preferably with hardware and/or in the solar industry (PV panels, solar array commissioning and solar trackers). 
• Experience using JIRA and Confluence project management applications. 
• People management and/or team leader experience.  
• Experience as a trainer or mentor is a plus. 
• Ability to actively communicate on a project’s status and major issues. 
• Ability to work independently and cross-functionally with other teams and project stakeholders. 
• Demonstrated ability to assess and comprehend issues / problems and provide rapid turnaround for resolutions, next steps, viable options and potential fixes. 
• Ability to give formal in-person presentations and generate presentation slides in PowerPoint. 
• Initiative to take the lead on assigned compliance /certification related tasks and projects. 
• Proficiency with MS Excel and/or Google Sheets.
