Position Summary
This position offers an excellent opportunity to collaborate with business partners, product/platform owners, and subject matter experts to solve complex business problems and deliver value to MPC. This role is vital to the support, development and enhancement of Finance systems and processes. It will also ensure solutions are reliable, secure, and aligned with enterprise technologies. As a Business Systems Analyst within the Corporate Functions IT – Supply Chain team, you will have the opportunity to gain exposure and add value to various Operational and Refinery Accounting related functions within MPC, including our Applications that support our regulatory compliance requirements, the movement and tracking of hydrocarbons for the commercial, marketing and accounting business functions, and other MPC’s strategic initiatives. Responsibilities include driving critical projects, delivering value-added enhancements, gathering and documenting business requirements, and coordinating user testing. The role may involve process documentation, system configuration & integrations, and report design. A major opportunity with this role is learning and supporting the functionality of applications across the Corporate Functions organization to allow for effective planning of future value-add work. The team operates in a cross-functional manner leveraging an agile methodology for work management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manages the definition of business processes in order to measure, analyze, improve and control the process being reviewed with senior management, IT and its business partners.
- Communicates effectively with stakeholders, aligning the understanding of requirements, and identifying cross functional changes/impacts of the specifications for solution delivery.
- Generates value-add ideas and business process improvements to further both business partners and technology.
- Leads improvement recommendations for appropriate systems alternatives and/or enhancements to current systems, and presents effectively to Business Partners.
- Investigates business performance and other measures to gain insight and drive business planning; applies continuous iterative processes.
- Performs cost benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
- Supports monitoring the execution of IT service management practices around incident, Change, Problem and Solution Development Lifecycle (SDLC) delivery methodologies for improvement and collaboration, including more advanced configuration tasks.
- Leads the development, execution, and creation of the cross functional testing strategy communicating with all stakeholders for technology delivery, including test case development and execution in support of technology delivery
- Plans, executes, and documents user stories, user feedback to support the development of prototypes and wireframes.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems preferred, related field or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of relevant Experience
- Experience with Agile Methodologies preferred.
- Experience with .net/Azure applications preferred.
- Experience with SQL and related tools (SQL Server Management Studio / Azure Data Studio) preferred.
