The Finance Team is responsible for providing and delivering accurate, timely and expert financial and accounting management services enabling the business to make effective, considered decisions while ensuring regulated and compliant activity. Strong governance and effective risk management.
The Accounts Receivable Manager plays a critical role in ensuring Actionstep’s financial stability and liquidity. They work closely with the Controller and Finance Team to streamline cash flow, optimise revenue collection, and maintain accurate financial records.
THE PURPOSE OF YOUR ROLE
The Accounts Receivable Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of the company’s accounts receivable (AR) function, ensuring efficient collections, and maintaining healthy cash flow. This role involves leading the AR team, developing strategies for improving collections, reducing bad debt, and providing regular financial reporting to senior management. The Accounts Receivable Manager will work closely with other departments, such as sales and finance, to optimize revenue collection and minimize financial risk.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
In this role, you will be accountable for…
Accounts Receivable Oversight:
- Manage and supervise the accounts receivable team, ensuring that all collections and payment posting are completed accurately and on time.
- Ensure proper handling of customer accounts, including maintaining up-to-date records of payments, outstanding balances, and payment history.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective AR operations.
Billing & Invoicing:
- Oversee the timely preparation of invoices to customers.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of invoices, resolving any issues or discrepancies as they arise.
- Ensure compliance with internal billing standards and customer agreements.
Collections and Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor and manage the collection of overdue accounts, ensuring that appropriate follow-up actions are taken.
- Develop and execute strategies to improve the collection process, reduce aged receivables, and minimize bad debt.
- Negotiate payment arrangements with customers as necessary and escalate issues to senior management if required.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounts receivable team, setting performance targets and providing training and guidance.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and implement continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
- Foster a collaborative and productive environment to achieve departmental and company goals.
Reporting and Financial Analysis:
- Prepare regular AR aging reports, cash flow forecasts, and other financial reports for senior management.
- Analyse trends in receivables and recommend strategies to optimize cash flow and reduce outstanding balances.
- Ensure all discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner and report any issues related to financial performance or compliance.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, providing them with necessary information about their account status and payment terms.
- Resolve customer inquiries or disputes in a professional and timely manner, ensuring customer satisfaction while protecting the company’s financial interests.
Collaboration with Other Departments:
- Work closely with the sales, customer service, and finance teams to ensure that all information regarding customer payments, credit terms, and disputes is accurately communicated and addressed.
Compliance and Internal Controls:
- Ensure that the company’s AR processes comply with financial regulations and internal control policies.
- Conduct regular audits of AR procedures and systems to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with all internal and external parties ensuring transparent, proactive and effective communication always.
- Attending and proactively contributing to customer, partner and internal meetings with the view to add value in a constructive manner.

- Being a thought leader both within Actionstep but also in the wider industry.

Essential:
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in accounts receivable, finance, or accounting, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong knowledge of accounts receivable processes, financial reporting, and collections strategies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Proficiency Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to analyse financial data and create actionable insights for senior management.
- Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and industry standards.
Desirable:
- Proficiency in Netsuite Accounting Software.
- Experience within SaaS or Legal Industries.
