VP, PROGRAMMATIC AGENCY DEVELOPMENT

This is an individual contributor role.

Summary:

As part of the ongoing acceleration to data-driven automated media trading models and partnerships, GSTV is seeking a passionate and experienced media & programmatic professional to step into a strategic leadership and revenue-generating role. The VP, Programmatic Agency Development will be responsible for continuing to shape GSTV’s growing programmatic strategy and will lead the execution and management of this approach to create new revenue relationships. As a national video network GSTV has a market-leading opportunity to capture video, digital, mobile, DOOH and retail/shopper budgets via closer partnership and integration with agency, DSP, SSP and audience platforms.

 

You will be responsible for the development of Programmatic partnerships with our Big Six Agency Holding company partners & other large key programmatic agencies and brands to connect to our advertising inventory with their Brand needs. This role requires extensive programmatic understanding and experience to fully understand the intricacies of DSP platforms and how GSTV is sold programmatically. This role also requires deep and extensive relationships with key buying and planning contacts within the target agency and client lists, specifically within the programmatic teams and leadership. In this role, you would be able to consistently meet clients both in-person and virtually, including the ability to schedule and deliver frequent agency wide meetings to help open doors for the GSTV sales team. In addition, you will liaise closely with the technology, ad operations and sales support teams to ensure we have a data infrastructure in place to support the needs of programmatic buyers. Additionally, being the Programmatic expert, you will inform and train internal sales, marketing, and planning teams to stay current on programmatic business terms, trading models and opportunities to align with direct sales relationships and work externally alongside the direct sales team where applicable.

 

The ideal candidate must possess a broad-based media background with knowledge in the programmatic trading space and have the ability to access and present with immediate credibility to senior agency buyers and C level brand executives. As a dedicated hire in the programmatic space, you will play a key role in defining programmatic for GSTV and will work closely with industry bodies and other key operators as well as the company leadership and sales teams.

 

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

· Partner with SVP, Managing Director and senior sales, marketing, technology, and finance leadership to continue to shape GSTV’s programmatic strategy, proposition, and go-to-market plan.

· Front line client facing sales role. Expectations are in person sales calls and client entertainment.

· Grow digital and programmatic revenue.

· Build and cultivate new client relationships, optimize their performance, and identify additional business opportunities to expand partnership revenues.

· Continually educate internal business units on programmatic landscape, including key players, concepts, marketplace opportunities and impacts to current business.

· Identify key partners, design, and deliver continuing proof of concepts into scalable processes.

· Work cross-functionally within GSTV to identify and prioritize automation, determine impact on our products and services, and gain internal support for new initiatives.

· Oversee the implementation and execution of a programmatic strategy and drive revenue for the channel alongside and in partnership with existing direct sales teams and leaders.

· Identify and communicate internally new market requirements by translating customer needs and gathering an in-depth understanding of the competitive landscape and business priorities.

· Define and execute the GSTV audience strategy and help develop new ways to package network inventory for programmatic buying.

· Work with the SVP Managing Director, and the rest of the team to develop detailed financial and business plans regarding programmatic partnerships, including a long-term business plan and the corresponding financial plan.

· Further develop and refine operating and financial metrics and revenue forecasts, and use these metrics to help manage, drive, and prioritize the business as part of overall revenue strategy.

Requirements: 

 

Required qualifications:

· BA/BS degree from a leading US or International University.

· 7+ years media industry experience including 5+ years of related business development experience in the programmatic trading space.

· Passion for, and deep understanding of digital media monetization products and trends, strong knowledge of advertising technology.

· Impressive ability to negotiate deals, think strategically, and understand complex, nuanced product issues.

· Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate efforts across a large organization (both internally and externally), to achieve key deliverables.

· Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.

· Existing, current relationships with decision-makers at advertising agencies and advertising technology companies.

· Strong cultural fit will be important – GSTV is a customer-focused, fast-paced, results-oriented culture.

 

Skills qualifications:

· Programmatic knowledge/aptitude

o Technology: core knowledge of programmatic transaction workflow, bid request / response mechanics, interplay between DSPs, SSPs + DMPs and who the major players are at each level of the ad tech stack.
o Media: must understand how to smartly utilize audience composition indices in a proposal, build reach / frequency / GRPs and provide the right efficiency levers. Must have experience across display, video and mobile media, with the ability combine in a singular proposal to leverage the strengths of each.
o Data: prefer strong familiarity with applying 1st & 3rd party data sets, with an emphasis on 3rd party data players in the mobile space (e.g., Factual, PlaceIQ), as well as being able to speak to attribution & measurement capabilities.
o Tools: experience using SSPs / DSPs / ad servers preferred.

· Strong organizational / time management skills and detailed oriented.

· Proven ability to work collaboratively with key leadership to scope and prioritize opportunities.

· Sales achievement with experience in consultative or “needs” based selling techniques.

· Excellent verbal and written communications skills including delivering effective presentations.

· Be a self-starter with a diligent work ethic and demonstrated flexibility.

· Able to multi-task and stay calm under pressure.

· Proficient in Microsoft software applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and social media platforms.
