Job Description:

The Vice President of Product Management for AI & Analytics Solutions will lead the strategy, development, and execution of innovative AI and Data driven products and analytics solutions as well as all aspects of Data Platforms, Data Orchestration as a Service and corresponding commercial platforms for Enterprise Data Warehouse, Data Lake, Cloud Repositories. These solutions will empower healthcare providers by transforming data into actionable insights, improving patient care, drive operational efficiency, and compliance. Likewise, the underlying data foundation will create commercialization and monetization opportunities in adjacent markets that glean value from large scale deidentified health and patient data.

The VP, Product AI & Analytics will also have broad responsibility for executing NextGen’s strategic agenda, driving growth and expansion into new areas enabled through modern AI and robust data assets, informing M&A and partnership decisions for the AI and Analytics solutions portfolio, and for managing the operations and processes around building great analytics products that deliver customer value.

In addition to defining and executing a robust product vision, strategy, and roadmap across NextGen’s emerging AI & Analytics portfolio, the VP Product will also be a key contributor to the company’s efforts to transform and modernize its product management function; assisting in driving methods and processes that enable a pivot from a sales-led approach to one that is product-led.

More specifically, within the category of Patient Solutions, the VP Product will:

Product Strategy & Vision

  • Define and execute the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the company’s Analytics & AI Solutions portfolio, aligned with business goals and market needs.

  • Lead product innovation with a focus on leveraging AI and advanced analytics to transform electronic health records (EHR), physician practice management, and operational workflows.

  • Leads aspects of establishing large scale data repositories/data lakes and the related data platforms that enable AI & Analytics Solutions.

  • Identify opportunities to automate both clinical and administrative workflows AI-driven solutions, enhancing efficiency in front-office (e.g., patient scheduling, billing) and back-office (e.g., claims processing, compliance management) functions.

  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies in AI, healthcare analytics, and digital health to continuously innovate and refine product offerings.

  • Strategically develop and implement a product strategy and roadmap aligned to market trends to maximize opportunities and achieve financial goals - P&L, Revenue, Bookings, Costs, Overhead etc.

  • Create market definitions and evaluate new and existing solutions within the identified market segment.

  • Ensure regulatory requirements specific to AI and Analytics solutions markets are accurate and delivered within deadlines.

Customer Focus & Market Research

  • Engage with customers, healthcare providers, and key stakeholders to understand their operational challenges, focusing on opportunities to automate manual tasks and optimize workflows using AI and analytics.

  • Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify gaps and opportunities for creating operational efficiencies in both clinical and non-clinical areas of healthcare organizations.

  • Ensure products meet regulatory, compliance, and security standards within the healthcare industry.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of NextGen’s prospects, customers, competitors and partners, and their strategic direction, pain points, desired integrations, and culture, to develop a thoughtful and informed perspective of product and market positioning, including competition and differentiation.

  • Develop and manage key customer impact and performance measures e.g., patient adoption, patient satisfaction, product usability etc.

Product Development & Lifecycle Management

  • Build business cases for market viability of NextGen AI & Analytics solutions within key market segments.

  • Lead end-to-end product development for AI and analytics solutions, from ideation and prototyping through launch and iteration, leveraging Agile methodologies.

  • Develop Analytics solutions that streamline processes such as practice management workflow, claims adjudication, revenue cycle management, patient scheduling, and clinical documentation through automation.

  • Collaborate with data scientists to integrate AI models and machine learning algorithms that support operational improvements, such as predicting patient demand or automating billing processes.

  • Define product metrics and KPIs to monitor performance, focusing on quantifiable operational efficiencies, time savings, and workflow automation.

  • Assure that product P&L and other financial objectives are integrated in the product management lifecycle, including cost management, pricing optimization, revenue growth, and margin improvement.

Innovation & Growth

  • Be accountable for driving innovation by fostering a test-and-learn environment, experimenting with AI models, new data sources, and advanced analytics techniques to enhance both front-office and back-office efficiencies.

  • Lead initiatives that enable AI adoption across the product suite, particularly in areas that reduce manual intervention, improve accuracy in administrative tasks, and optimize staff workflows.

  • Drive the adoption of a data-driven product management approach, utilizing analytics and user data to continuously optimize products and user experiences, particularly around automation and operational efficiency.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Communicate the product vision, strategy, and outcomes effectively to internal teams, senior leadership, and external stakeholders.

  • Work collaboratively with the CPO and other constituents to formulate and lead a strategic plan for product growth, encompassing the development of new products, buy vs build, and the enhancement of legacy offerings.

  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and customer success to ensure alignment on product positioning, go-to-market strategies, and customer engagement, particularly around operational efficiency and automation benefits.

  • Partner with Solutions, Commercial and Operations to shape and build the company's product voice, and image through external engagements.

  • Partner closely with the Technology, to execute short and long-term product vision inclusive of establishing priorities and performance KPIs, ensuring an exceptional end-to-end user experience and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

  • Partner with industry bodies and participate in healthcare technology forums to elevate the company’s thought leadership in AI and analytics for workflow automation and operational optimization.

  • Collaborate with finance, product management, and marketing on messaging, pricing strategies, and business models to achieve revenue goals. Assure that go-to-market value proposition, price to value and competitive pricing practices into all aspects of the product roadmap and strategy.

Leadership & People Development

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing product management team that embodies modern product management practices and frameworks, including Agile and Lean methodologies.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, data science, design, and marketing to deliver scalable, user-centered AI solutions that address operational inefficiencies across healthcare environments.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, customer focus, and continuous improvement within the product management organization.

  • Provide direction, context, and leadership to product management teams including Product Managers, Product Owners, and Subject Matter Experts capable of delivering high-quality products within aggressive timelines.

The ideal candidate for the VP Product Management, AI & Analytics role shall bring:

  • At least 12 years of increasingly responsible and relevant leadership experience with at least 5 years focused on AI, data science, or advanced analytics solutions.

  • The successful candidate should possess at minimum a university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field of study from an accredited institution; an advanced degree is highly desirable.

  • Proven track record of delivering AI or analytics-driven products in a healthcare technology setting, with a focus on automating workflows and optimizing front-office and back-office operations.

  • Strong understanding of modern product management methodologies, including Agile, Lean, and product-led growth strategies.

  • Expertise in data-driven decision-making, including experience with AI/ML frameworks, analytics tools, and user-centered design principles.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of healthcare industry regulations, standards, and best practices, particularly around data privacy, security, and compliance.

  • Deep Healthcare/Healthcare IT industry experience is required, preferably from Ambulatory or Acute care delivery related workflows.

  • Experience managing large-scale AI or analytics platforms in healthcare, with demonstrated success in automating operational workflows.

  • Strong understanding of cloud-based technologies and SaaS product delivery.

  • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards and data exchange protocols (e.g., HL7, FHIR).

  • A proven track record of delivering a complex, scaled platform product with experience positioning and executing a full migration to modern technology within a large-scale commercial/enterprise software development environment comprised of multiple products and multiple lines of business.

  • Experience writing business cases, and performing market analysis, developing go-to-market strategies for solutions or products, and managing backlogs for solutions across multiple markets.

  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing product teams.

  • Excellent collaborative skills, with a track record of influencing software development teams and aligning cross-functional efforts towards shared objectives.

  • Strategic thinking capability, with a clear understanding of balancing product management processes with aggressive business timelines.

  • Significant general management and P&L experience. Financial savvy, aligning product strategy with company financial goals, including cost management, revenue growth, and margin improvement.

  • Experience navigating complex situations and managing multiple stakeholders with diverse priorities to achieve consensus.

  • Define and manage complex process, workflows, and product issues; develop compelling product vision and drive product to successful execution; lead and motivate a team of professionals in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment; drive strategy, development, and execution of product deliverables in a timely manner; work on concurrent projects with critical/urgent timelines; disseminate product concepts, updates, and deliverables; establish and maintain effective working relationships through collaboration and respect.

  • Knowledge of Minimum Viable Product (MVP) concept and Agile development process; Product Lifecycle practices.

  • Experience in a private equity-owned company, especially in a growth-focused environment like that of Thoma Bravo.
