The opportunity:
The Vice President of Data & Analytics will define and implement HBP’s data strategy, data management, and analytics initiatives in support of the organization’s product and business strategy. This is a newly created role that will transform our data capabilities, enhance personalization, deliver client insights, and drive innovation through data-driven decision making. This role will work closely with senior leaders to align data initiatives with business goals, leveraging HBP’s unique vantage point across academic, corporate, and consumer audiences to transform our operations and to create value for customers.
What you’ll do:
Data Strategy

Define HBP’s data strategy – how will we use our data to increase internal efficiency, generate new value for customers, and provide us with a competitive advantage?

Develop a 3-year roadmap of strategic data initiatives aligned with the strategy
Data Analysis
-
Lead a distributed team of data analysts across HBP’s three business units
-
Develop a standardized and efficient approach to generating insights from our data, taking into consideration the rapid advances in AI technology and the opportunity to drive automation and self-service

Partner with IT and business unit leaders to enable better sales, marketing, and service delivery outcomes using our high-value data

Partner with Product Development leaders to drive data collection within our product experiences and to ensure visibility of customer behavior to support prioritization

Partner with HR to lead our efforts to develop data literacy, to expand analytics capabilities across the organization and to support data driven decision making
Data Management and Data Engineering

Lead a team of data architects and data engineers who support and enhance HBP’s data foundation (built on the Snowflake data platform)

Oversee the collection, storage, and management of high-value data about our customers, our content, and all our customer interactions across product, sales, marketing, and service delivery

Implement best practices for data warehousing, data ingestion, and data governance to support improved customer experience and actionable insights.

Partner with IT and Risk & Compliance leaders to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance
AI and ML Engineering

Build a team of FTE and contract AI Architects, Data Scientists and ML Engineers who develop AI capabilities to support personalization, content recommendation, and contextualization features.

Partner with Product Development leaders to define and execute our strategic roadmap of data collection and data-driven product features

Partner with Data & AI leadership at Harvard Business School to leverage shared, school-wide resources, infrastructure, and data to support HBP’s priorities
What you’ll bring:

15+ years of experience in data analytics or data engineering leadership
-
Proven track record of developing data strategies, translating strategy into a roadmap for implementation, overseeing the execution of strategic initiatives, and delivering measurable business results

Proven track record of designing and implementing data infrastructure and platforms to support data science and analytics outcomes
-
Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams
-
Strong understanding of data governance and data security.

Knowledge of data privacy standards (GDPR, etc.) and implications
-
Excellent leadership, business acumen, communication, and influencing skills.

$225,000 - $275,000
Above is the annualized pay range for this position. In addition, this position includes the opportunity to earn our annual Performance Based Variable Pay Program. Actual salary will be set based upon a range of factors, including external benchmark market data, individual knowledge, skills, experience, location and internal equity.
