TRAINING, BEHAVIOR, AND RESEARCH SUPPORT INTERN

Location: Kalamazoo, MI

Internship Summary:

Support a project focused on the development and use of administrative, operational, and business tools within an animal health research and development environment. Assist in the collection and analysis of data in support of the organization’s goals for animal welfare, effective resource planning, and operational excellence. Complete an intern project based on the data analyzed and/or tools developed.

Internship Job Duties:

  • Assist with the development and piloting of tools used to analyze and understand operational metrics within the animal care and use program.
  • Utilize knowledge of digital tools/platforms/applications to organize and present data and project outcomes.
  • Animal procedures, may include husbandry, handling, dosing, biological sampling, behavioral assessments, and training activities.
  • Complete a variety of assignments, identify and help implement process improvements and share knowledge and expertise with others in work group.

Internship Qualifications:

Education and Experience (required):

  • High School + 2 years secondary education in a related Animal Science related field including but not limited to animal health, production, or business management, agribusiness, agricultural economics, pre-veterinary or veterinary technician school. 

Technical Skills Requirements (desired):

  • Experience working with livestock, companion animals and/or rodents
  • Experience using digital tools and applications including, but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Excel, or PowerApps, or other similar platforms

 

The following hourly pay rates reflect the anticipated base pay for this position:

 

If the selected candidate is a student pursuing an Associate-level degree: $16.00 per hour

If the selected candidate is a student pursuing an Undergraduate-level degree: $20.00 per hour

If the selected candidate is a student pursing a Graduate-level degree: $32.50 per hour

If the selected candidate is a student pursuing a Doctorate-level degree: $36.00 per hour

 

 

The following hourly pay rates reflect the anticipated base pay for this position if a selected candidate were to be located in California, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Illinois (Chicago area), Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington (Seattle area):

 

Student pursuing an Associate-level degree: $17.00 per hour

Student pursuing an Undergraduate-level degree: $22.00 per hour

Student pursing a Graduate-level degree: $36.40 per hour

Student pursuing a Doctorate-level degree: $40.30 per hour
