In addition to driving strategic priorities and organizational performance marketing organization, the VP of Marketing serves as a vital member of the senior leadership team, bringing their market expertise and strategic thinking to support the overall organization's strategy and direction, including shining a bright light focus on how our solutions support research-based literacy strategies, creating impactful and measurable experiences in the classroom, leveraging data to support decision-making, continuing worthy stewardship of customer data, exploring new ways to innovate our business through AI, and identifying sustainable operational efficiencies that lead to better outcomes for students, teachers, and Learning A-Z. The VP of Marketing is a solution-oriented, innovative leader who owns the strategic vision for Learning A-Z’s overall marketing strategy and empowers the marketing team to deliver excellence.

Of critical importance to this role is the ability to leverage internal and external data reporting. The VP of Marketing makes data-driven decisions that ensure short and long-term goals supporting customer satisfaction, brand loyalty, and financial objectives. They explain the logic of these decisions clearly, growing consensus within the organization on decisions and enabling the Marketing team likewise to leverage data in their roles.

As a critical element of the position, the VP of Marketing is responsible for recruiting, retaining, developing, and supporting talented marketing professionals who collaborate with sales, customer success, and product management to ensure we bring our best to the market. Additionally, they partner with sales to provide effective and accurate vehicles for messaging through sales enablement.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Evolve the market narrative of Learning A-Z to position it as an essential partner in every classroom, harmoniously aligned with the Science of Reading.

  • Serve with senior leadership at Learning A-Z and parent company Cambium to evolve the Learning A-Z brand to reflect its current state and aspirations for the future.

  • Build, inspire, lead, and champion a high-performing marketing organization that delivers against KPIs.

  • Understand and optimize the customer lifecycle from prospective user to enthusiastic advocate; track success with data including win/loss rates, renewal metrics, NPS, and ACV.

  • Manage go-to-market planning and execution for new products and product versions, including leading pricing, bundling, and messaging strategies with Product Management.

  • Maintain a strong pulse on the education industry by staying close with sales, clients, prospects, industry leaders, and competitors to identify and act on revenue opportunities for the company.

  • Develop KPIs in support of employee performance review that balances career and skill development with recognition and accountability.

  • Be curious about AI applications in marketing and able to guide the adoption of new technologies.

  • Work in partnership with Product, Data, and Analytics to measure and market Learning A-Z’s impact in the classroom.

  • Integrate sales enablement into the marketing process, ensuring cohesion and excellence throughout the buyer’s journey.

  • Consult with the Product Strategy Group on Learning A-Z solutions, seeking what is essential in the classroom and what drives impact for teachers and students.

  • Be accountable for improving internal and external communications.

  • Lead the marketing planning process and manage the marketing budget.

  • Build a culture of security safety, and stewardship; effectively convey Learning A-Z as a brand worthy of customer trust.

Job Requirements:

  • 10+ years of marketing experience, with a minimum of 5 years leading high-performing marketing teams within the edtech industry. K-6 literacy experience preferred.

  • Prior success in EdTech SaaS-driven companies with a deep understanding of digital marketing, Account-Based Marketing (ABM) strategies and e-commerce experiences.

  • Experience with Martech annd marketing automation to scale execution.

  • Strong brand-building experience tied back to overall financial targets and company performance.

  • Expert-level command of product marketing (messaging, product launches, strategy, etc.)

  • Strong knowledge of all metrics that measure marketing effectiveness (ACV, NPS, CAC, Churn, CPA, attribution models, average customer spend, ROAS, other customer-focused metrics, PS etc.) Leverages metrics and data to drive decision-making.

  • Experience building strategies across multiple marketing channels, including product marketing, customer marketing, ABM, and eCommerce.

  • Holistic full-funnel marketer with experience scaling digital and non-digital channels that drive growth.

  • Experience with international education marketing is a plus.

  • Direct experience with product launches.

  • Master communicator and cross-functional collaborator.
