The Position

 The Vice President of Commercial Enablement provides strategic direction and leadership for all corporate communications, digital marketing communications, and commercial enablement functions at Roche Diagnostics Corporation (RDC). This role drives alignment between communication strategies and overall business objectives, ensuring consistency in internal and external messaging while maintaining the organization's corporate brand and reputation. Key responsibilities include overseeing internal and external corporate communications, media relations, crisis management, executive communications, digital and social media, corporate branding, and reputation management. The VP also leads corporate social responsibility efforts, including charitable giving programs, and serves as the primary spokesperson to the media and public. This position partners with C-suite executives, business area leadership, and cross-functional teams in marketing, sales, and P&C to optimize operations and align organizational priorities with strategic goals. Responsibilities extend to developing and implementing public relations strategies, leading change communications initiatives, and ensuring consistency of messaging across all platforms. The VP directs the creative and event production agencies of record, oversees the conference, meeting, and events team, and manages large-scale events such as congresses and trade shows. Additionally, the role encompasses customer engagement, sales enablement, and digital/social media strategies, ensuring a cohesive approach to supporting business priorities and delivering measurable results. By integrating strategic priorities, execution effectiveness, and innovation, the VP ensures that RDC achieves its business objectives while maintaining a favorable public image and fostering a high-performance culture. 

Direct report to the CEO of RDC and a member of the US Leadership Team; and, as such, have leadership responsibilities that extend beyond Commercial Enablement and require general business leadership and contributions to the overall strategy and development of RDC.  This role will collaborate with the US Leadership Team and will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the strategic and operational aspects of the Commercial business. 

Responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the quality system and achieving quality objectives through daily actions.
 

  • Contributing leadership skills and expertise to the strategic and business planning processes

  • Oversees and shapes the strategic communication planning for RD-US internal and external communications, enhancing organizational and business value.

  • Partners with executive management, marketing, sales, advertising, and P&C to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate communications strategies.

  • Acts as the primary communications advisor to the president and CEO, ensuring alignment with the strategic agenda.

  • Serves as a media spokesperson, engaging with community, trade, and general media, as well as the public.

  • Handles issues and crisis management communications, including developing tactics and training executives for such scenarios.

  • Selects, manages, and oversees PR agencies to ensure impactful media engagement.

  • Leads executive communications programs, including appearances, speeches, presentations, and public relations efforts.

  • Drives employee engagement and builds a high-performance culture through effective communication and internal campaigns in partnership with P&C.

  • Designs and implements communication strategies for events, initiatives, and training programs.

  • Leads and develops a high-performing team of communications and commercial enablement professionals, including writers, designers, project planners, and leaders.

  • Ensures a strong succession plan for key roles while fostering a stimulating environment where sales and profit align with corporate objectives.

  • Oversees digital marketing communications, including management of internal creative agencies and external partners.

  • Leads the planning and execution of meetings, conventions, and trade shows, ensuring impactful corporate presence.

  • Develops and directs social responsibility initiatives, community relations, and charitable contributions.

  • Leads commercial execution of enterprise functions, including customer engagement, sales enablement, and digital/social media.

  • Develops and implements best-in-class commercial operations and services to support marketing and sales efforts.

  • Contributes to long-range vision and strategy for RD-US, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.

  • Serves as the North American liaison with Global Corporate Communications to ensure consistency and alignment.

  • Defines, sets, and drives execution of the long-term vision, strategy, and operational plans for RDC.

  • Lead commercial execution of enterprise functions, such as Customer Engagement, Sales Enablement, and Digital and Social Media.

  • Partners with executive management, marketing, sales, advertising, and P&C to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate internal and external communications. Acts as primary communications advisor to the president and CEO.

  • Leads and sets up all executive communications programs, including, but not limited to, internal and external appearances, pr agencies, speeches, and presentations.

  • Has overall responsibility for meetings, conventions, and social responsibility efforts for the company, including large-scale sales meetings and corporate presence at congresses and trade shows.

  • Serves as the North American liaison with Global Corporate Communications.

  • Contributing leadership skills and expertise in developing and implementing best-in-class Commercial operations and services, such as marketing and sales services, meeting and convention services, Building and developing an exceptional, high-performing team by anticipating changes in the business and implications from such to organizational design and talent

  • Ensuring a strong succession plan for key positions across the Commercial Enablement organization

  • Creating and sustaining a stimulating environment where sales and profit grow in line with corporate objectives  

  • Defining, setting, aligning, and driving execution against the long-range vision, strategy, and plan for RDC

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 7-10 years of progressive commercial leadership experience

  • 5-7 or more years of people management experience, with at least 5-7 years of experience and a track record in senior program management

  • Considerable experience and expertise in long-range strategic planning, market research, and competitive intelligence 

  • Experience leading function-wide business planning processes, including the development and implementation of such plans, goals, and metrics

  • Proven experience leading, organizing, and directing large-scale commercial functions including multiple teams and departments

  • Ability to lead and influence in a global matrixed environment

  • Excellent interpersonal skills/highly collaborative

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively interact, work, and develop meaningful culture, organizational structure, and processes

  • Ability to cultivate strong internal/external networks

  • Proven stakeholder management and problem-solving skills

  • Experience in progressive leadership positions in the diagnostic, biotechnology or related industries is strongly preferred

  • Experience leading function-wide business planning processes, including the development and implementation of such plans, goals, and metrics

  • Previous accomplishments include developing and overseeing the execution of breakthrough business strategies that have led to considerable growth in financial results and increased the long-term, sustainable value proposition of the relevant brand(s)

Preferred requirements:

  • Experience in leading and working with global teams.

The expected salary range for this position is $283,520 - $372,120 based on the primary location of Indiana.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance, as well as participation in a long-term incentive program.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
