Job Responsibilities and Requirements

Supports the day-to-day operations and reporting of the Underwriting & Group Insurance Operations audit and quality assurance function. In collaboration with Underwriting management, designs and implements audit programs to ensure compliance with the company’s group underwriting directives, policies and risk tolerance. Performs department audits and develops internal audit standards and procedures. 

  • Designs and implements audit programs to ensure compliance with the company’s Underwriting & Group Insurance Operations directives, policies and risk tolerance.  

  • Assists in developing an underwriting score card by which underwriters will be measured.  

  • Ensures guidelines, policies and procedures and underwriting authority limits are documented/in place to define the results of their audit. 

  • Delivers valuable analysis of audit findings including identifying root cause and possible corrective actions. 

  • Assists in developing guidelines and best practices where needed, as identified by audit results. Supports business partners with any changes required to adapt to the new practice. 

  • Ensures pricing assumptions and the basis on which they are determined are clearly stated in the audit report for review at the appropriate level. 

  • Assists Director with all external and internal audits for Underwriting & Group Insurance Operations. May manage assigned audits  
     

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting, finance or business management preferred. 

  • Minimum 3 years of underwriting or group insurance experience requiredAudit experience preferred.  

  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills in a transactional financial environment is required. 

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize and report on complex findings and data are required. 

  • Excellent multitasking, organizational and project management skills required. 

  • Ability to interact and influence all levels of staff and management. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required. 

  • Thorough understanding of manual rating, including base rates and factors that drive claims cost changes.   

  • Displays strong understanding of experience rating methodology, and is beginning to understand factors that contribute to aggressive or conservative formula rates.  

  • Understands PACS, EIS, Salesforce, DataMart, Vue and other related (or comparable) systems. 

 

Ability to Travel: Up to 10%


 

The expected hiring range for this position is $69,890.00 - $93,300.00 annually for work performed in the primary location (Philadelphia, PA). This expected hiring range covers only base pay and excludes any other compensation components such as commissions or incentive awards. The successful candidate’s starting base pay will be based on several factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Work location may be flexible if approved by the Company.
