The Underwriting Assistant – Not for Profit – Multiline will work a hybrid schedule from our Woodbury NY Office.
Responsibilities:
- Rate policies, endorsements, etc. or review previously rated policies for proper rating. Knowledge of rating manuals and application of same.
- Develop information for the processing of new or renewal policies ie. loss runs etc. utilizing knowledge of automated systems
- Prepare quotations and proposals for broker client and assist underwriter by answering or fielding questions from broker clients and company personnel.
- Enter and/or research information in the company image right system and apply this information in accordance with department workflow procedures.
- Request additional information from broker necessary for the proper processing of applications, endorsements, and cancellations including any underwriting related report from external sources. Perform routine follow-ups and referrals for same.
- Assist underwriters by handling broker’s verbal and written requests or comments concerning applications, endorsements, cancellations or etc.
- Assist underwriters by processing a preliminary evaluation of company loss experience for individual accounts.
- Assist underwriters in preparing new and renewal applications for initial evaluation, rating, and final pricing.
- Communicate effectively with supervisor regarding resolving internal and external processing issues and problems.
- Process policies (incl. of new, renewal, and endorsements) in all areas via both company automated systems and manually, including maintenance of policy logs and policy distribution, as required.
- Process conditional renewal/non-renewal notices, both internally and externally.
- Process renewal letters electronically: collate, scan, mail and distribute.
- Communicate with external company personnel regarding form changes and effectively implement and communicate the use of same.
- Clear new business in agency automated systems.
- Scan and index documents etc. into automated system.
- Structure and maintain State regulatory required administrative files.
- Special projects as needed.
Requirements:
- Minimum high school diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of similar related job experience
- Experienced in commercial insurance package rating, including Property, Crime, Inland Marine, General Liability, Auto, Work Comp lines of business.
- Recognize and effectively act upon situations with limited supervision.
- Solid familiarity with computers
- Good oral and written communication skills/ interpersonal skills/Effective team skills
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to prescribed routines and practices.
- Maintain an attention to detail and good analytical skills
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Experience with Liberty Mutual eCliq system is preferred.
- Experience in rating in multiple states and experience in Not-For Profit is also a plus.
The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. Discretionary incentive compensation may be awarded.
