The Knowledge and Skills Exchange Team within the NML is responsible for developing training resources and delivering training courses to support laboratories in ensuring the quality of their measurement results. Our diverse range of customers includes organisations based in the UK and overseas (including Europe, North America, Africa and the Middle East) from sectors such as environment, food, pharmaceuticals and chemical manufacturing. The team’s responsibilities include:
- Delivery of high-quality training on metrology and quality assurance topics, both in person and online;
- Management and delivery of all aspects of commercial training activities including development and maintenance of training material, marketing and business development;
- Development of e-learning materials, with a focus on app-based learning;
- Delivery of government-funded projects focusing on knowledge transfer in relation to metrology and quality assurance for analytical laboratories.
While the role is based in National Laboratories which will be relocating from Teddington to Guildford in April 2025, home-based candidates will be considered. However, ability to travel both within the UK and overseas to deliver training at customer sites is essential.
Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated Training Consultant to deliver high-quality training courses and develop innovative resources that support knowledge transfer in analytical measurement science. This role is essential in ensuring training aligns with customer needs while promoting the importance of reliable laboratory data.
About the Role
As a key part of our training team, you will play a vital role in delivering professional training and crafting impactful resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver face-to-face and online training on metrology and quality assurance, ensuring courses meet customer expectations.
- Update training materials regularly to keep content current and relevant.
- Promote training programs through well-planned marketing activities, including email campaigns and website updates.
- Develop new training resources, with a focus on online delivery methods such as app-based platforms.
- Manage projects efficiently to ensure timely delivery within budget and quality standards.
Qualifications
We are seeking someone with a strong scientific background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for knowledge sharing.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Equivalent experience in a field of science, or similar qualifications.
- Experience working in an accredited testing laboratory.
- Expertise in laboratory data reliability, including method validation and quality control.
- Experience delivering training, both online and in person.
- Ability to build engaging technical training materials.
- Strong organizational and decision-making skills.
