Traffic Operator (Marine)

Responsibilities

• Maintain situational awareness and monitor the vessel and land traffic image from MSS and HAMS within the area of responsibility
• Ensure that all operating procedures are adhered to
• Manage marine traffic incident information in accordance with the applicable operating guidelines or procedure
• Notify supervisor of Alerts, Non-Compliances and equipment or system malfunctions
• Maintain log of vessel and land movement and all incidents/accidents within the area of responsibility
• Conducting spot checks within the area of responsibility to ensure all vessels are operated in accordance with the relevant operating equipment, license requirements, Marine Department Notices and Hong Kong Shipping Ordinances
• Monitor vessels during adverse weather such as typhoon, low visibility, and strong monsoon condition within area of responsibility; and
• Required to work shifts / irregular hours including weekends and holidays and onboard patrol launches.

Requirements

• Have a Hong Kong Local Coxswain Grade 3 Certificate or above; or a Coxswain Certificate issued by Hong Kong Discipline Forces or equivalent;
• A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experiences in marine operation;
• Knowledge of local rules, fairway and regulations and general land traffic control experience; and
• Able to communicate, read and write in English and Chinese including Mandarin.
