This position will provide Project Management expertise and coordination for the Trade Compliance Team globally. The incumbent is expected to track, document, and deliver continuous improvement programs and strategies to drive enhanced Trade/Customs Compliance risk mitigation and cost avoidance. This position will work extensively within the Trade Compliance team and core stakeholders to ensure TC products are delivered on time and on budget. This position will Influence Sr. Leaders in Legal, Supply, and Commercial to drive compliance.
What would be your key responsibilities?
- Manage Trade Compliance Projects.
- Responsible for creating project plans and delivering the project/program results on time, within budget and scope to the desired specifications.
- Monitors the status of each project to ensure appropriate actions are taken at the right time and in accordance with Mars Project and Change Management Standards.
- Communicates status reports proactively to project sponsors and stakeholders.
- Leads project meetings and holds team accountable for timeline deliverables.
- Establishes Project Charters in collaboration with TC team leads, and ensures documentation is submitted within Mars PM tools.
- Establishes project stakeholders, requirements, priorities, and deadlines in collaboration with TC team leads.
- Leads project(s) from initiation through closeout including phases such as planning, implementation, monitor and control and disseminating results.
- Identifies risks to project success and communicates to stakeholders appropriately.
- Identifies compliance risks through project work and escalates with TC team for corrective actions.
- Monitor’s budget and project process and reports accordingly.
- Designs effective contingency plans and manages project risks.
- Efficiently manages both internal and external resources (staff, equipment, vendors, and consultants) to achieve business solutions within project guidelines.
- Drives team to successful project completion through objective setting, defined priorities, and scope guardrails.
- Keeps team accountable to project deliverables and addresses focus/scope as needed.
- Prepares and presents progress reports for Senior Leaders and Project Sponsors.
- Creates SOPs, (Standard Operating Procedures) as needed for project delivery.
- Assists in identifying and resolving Trade Compliance issues, and other influences that may impact project, team, or corporate goals.
- As needed, assists Trade Compliance team with delivery of Trade Compliance activities, including auditing, training, and documentation of processes. Helps identify future projects for change management pipelines.
- Deliver savings and cost avoidance for Mars by ideating and implementing continuous improvements to trade processes and risk mitigation.
- Provide analytics, data, and reporting on compliance activities as required.
What are we looking for?
- Minimum 7-8 years progressive experience in complex CPG, legal, or consulting environments, must have demonstratable project management skillset.
- Proven track record working in a corporate environment, ideally in a regional or global role.
- BA or MA degree.
- Specialized, advanced knowledge in Project Management - PMP certificate or other Project Management tool.
- Some knowledge of trade and customs compliance regulations required.
- Brokers License or Degree/ Certificate in Compliance, International Logistics, Customs Work or International Studies preferred.
- Proficiency in standard PM Software tools.
- Fluent communication in English.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, if eligible, including variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Eligibility for these additional elements depend on the position offered and the employee’s work schedule (i.e., part-time schedule, store associate).
